Miami Marlins' 'The Franchise' Trailer Released By Showtime (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Say what you will about their win column or their attendance, but the Miami Marlins aren't ever boring -- and if the trailer for the reality series that's followed them all spring is any indication, fans are in for some fireworks.

Showtime's second seson of "The Franchise" begins airing the team's eventful 2012 to date in a sneak preview Saturday, following the Fish through offseason drama, the laying of sod, and opening day, all the way to manager Ozzie Guillen's five-game suspension for controversial comments about Fidel Castro. "All eyes are on us, for better or for worse," team president David Samson tells the team in the preview -- a lesson he then demonstrated while creating his own pre-season firestorm.

Showtime will begin airing a half-hour preview episode on April 21 at 9 p.m. on its namesake channel and Sho Extreme. The season officially begins July 11, with new episodes airing each week.

What other glories lay before viewers? The trailer shows behind-the-scenes looks at the team's name change from Florida to Miami; the arrival of superstar shortstop Jose Reyes, an acquisition that threatened to upset the team's incumbent superstar shortstop, Hanley Ramirez; the demotion of Petey from Petey & LoMo; and the adjustment in style to the outspoken Guillen, who expresses himself ready to hate anyone who makes a mistake.

Taxpayers also get an inside look as grinning owner Jeffrey Loria likens readying the new stadium to giving birth: "painful and slow." (He must have forgotten "expensive," but then he's only footing a small part of the bill.)

Things quickly turn even more tumultuous, of course, with Guillen's tone-deaf comments about Castro (uh, the team plays in Little Havana, skipper!): footage unfolds as mere days ago, the Venezuelan was suspended after expressing "love" and "respect" for the ex-Cuban leader to Time magazine, prompting a firestorm among fans in Miami and leading to an uncomfortable meeting with Samson.

Also included: Lamborghinis, weightlifting, motivational speeches, Muhammad Ali, and slow-motion dives into swimming pools.

What else can anyone want? Well, it's the Marlins, so we're sure to find out.
