Mitt Romney's Enviable Ability To Ignore The Truth

Romney

www.washingtonpost.com:

Among the attributes I most envy in a public man (or woman) is the ability to lie. If that ability is coupled with no sense of humor, you have the sort of man who can be a successful football coach, a CEO or, when you come right down to it, a presidential candidate. Such a man is Mitt Romney.

The Republican establishment are supporting this pIiable morally-malleable Wall street-backed candidate in an attempt to insulate the Washington establishment and their c0rrupted relationship with Wall street from Newt's complete over.hauI and reform. Mitt Romney's most dominating trait is lying (falsehoods). My value system, however, considers that trait 'deplorable', not enviable. Mitt's political pals seem to admire Mitt's propensity to lie and they, too, adopt that trait.

I hate to say it, but ignoring the truth is something Willard is well practiced in as he was born into it. Its something he says very little about, he would rather the electorate be concerned with seamus and other lesser things.

I am an ordinary American, worked all my life. achieved post-graduate education, worked full-time, raised my children to have a sense of value and morals that would help guide them to live a life punctuated by empathy, understanding and meaning. I did this despite the long, hard odds. I find it disgusting that Republicans think progress is measured by accumulation of wealth rather than progress in the lives of those of us who provide the labor that manages to change ideas into wealth. It is disgusting to see Republicans unfold the Ryan Tax Plan, taking aim to tax the poor, the middle class and seniors so that the wealthy can pile on more wealth. I object to Romney’s idea about the future as bright with prospect for the wealthy, but not for us. I object to the Republican’s idea that the wealthy deserve greater tax advantages than do working-class Americans. I object to see those who do not struggle are the ones rewarded with the fruits of labor by those of us who struggle daily to live an ordinary life. As an American, I object. We must change this course. We must make this Government about the people. Government cannot be made in the Republican image of being here to serve the wealthy, to serve corporations. We must take back our government--we must kick out the Republican with people who will serve Americans, real people, living, breathing people.

I have been sort of unbelievably astounded over the last few months by the amount of undisguised, unapologized for, unexcused, outright lies being told by our political leaders and wanta-bes. I mean, most poeple understand that a politician will sometimes fudge the truth. Once we came to accept the "spin" on things, I guess the next logical step was to go to the straight out lie with the provisio that if it is told often enough and with enought force it will eventually be accepted as truth. There is not time enough in the day for even a retired person like me to check out every statement being made, every charge being hurled. So, I just roll my eyes and figure it is all a big bag of lies. Diogenes would have a really hard time these days.

Lies in politics are no longer a cause of shame or embarrassment. It used to be that when confronted with something as being a lie, you didn't hear that exact same thing again. Now, it is a badge of courage, and they just smile and go right back to what they were doing. This says something about our nation.

It is important to ask: What is the effect of this position on the community. We have gotten to the point where the national attitude is that it is just fine if the policy being advocated harms everyone else, and the national community, so long as it benefits me. This had metastasized to Paul Ryan's very dangerous budget plan. It is written for the powerful, by the powerful and with other powerful people making it law. The rest of us are just left in the cold.

I fear for our nation.

I agree, although the psychopathic ability with which Romney lies is mindboggling.

the effect on the community is displayed by the re-bleating of the 'fabricated facts' by the AM radio sheeple as if they have solid grounds for establishing their 'belief' and a right to condem those who don't agree. It is furthur exemplorized by blaming the opponent for your own projected behavior. Very bad example for our children and the world. They are shameless.

Republicans don't lie, ever. They do, however, occasionally engage in alternate truth, and that is only done to serve a greater good. (Note: Greater good = the 1%)

The badge of honor of an exceptional liar should not go to Romney but to our President and most in his administration. "There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out."

The type of insightful analysis I expect from the WaPost, NYTimes, Huff Post, MSNBC, Buzzfeed, ...

No wonder they are going broke.

Have they ever met a republican that they liked? Or has Obama ever done anything wrong?

Your question makes it obvious that you never read any of the newspapers mentioned or watch any of the news programs listed. It may come as a shock to those who rely solely on Fox News for their "information" that not every news source is one-sided to the point of lying like Fox is. Fox doesn't even try to be fair or balanced in their "reporting". They have become the Republican Party Media Outlet and ALL of their "reporting" is pro-GOP and anti-Democrat. However, Fox is not satisfied with just picking and choosing news that meets their pro- and anti- needs. They have stepped over the line and regularly create fictional (LIE) accounts to meet their pro- and anti- needs.

WRONG.

I listed them because I read all of them. I don't go to FOX unless a Google News link takes me there. I don't watch FOX News because I already know their points.

My guess is that you dont wander too far from the list I provided, and that you don't seek out alternative voices or perspectives. It would require you to think a little.

Do you think the writer was lying? He pegged Romney pretty much as far as I could tell. Romney will not tell the truth about his agenda, what his goals and plans are except to defeat Obama. That is where the hate comes in. There are good republicans just that this year they picked a entire bunch of losers without talent, goals, the care of the American people over defense, the rich and the rest of the countries of the world.

He's glib alright. I remember reading an article where Romney stated his dog Seamus loved to ride on the roof of the car. I thought, gee, unless he is capable of talking to animals, he must indeed be lying when speaking on behalf of Seamus.

If he can prove he does indeed talk to animals, it would be well worth his while to promote this most admirable gift. If the electorate stops listening to him, as luck would have it, animals are non-judgemental, and give their affection unconditionally.

Hmm. I wonder if Seamus still felt that doggy affection. I'm thinking that somewhere down the road, (quite literally) he started to re-think that non-judgemental thing.
