Outside Lands Lineup 2012: Old School Favorites To Descend On Golden Gate Park (VIDEOS)

IT'S HERE: Outside Lands 2012 Lineup Revealed

Festival promoters have released the full lineup for this summer's Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, and it looks like they're going all out.

For the festival's fifth anniversary, there's a throwback theme: Legacy acts Metallica, Neil Young and Stevie Wonder are headlining the epic three-day party slated for August 10-12.

Some of the other top-line acts playing the festival include the newly solo Jack White, Grammy-winning dubstep ambassador Skrillex and legendary Modesto-based indie-rockers Grandaddy.

Outkast rapper Big Boi is back again. Hopefully this year he won't have the same technical issues that prevented him from actually performing anything the last time he was here.

Also, because it's our stated goal to mention local garage rock heroes Thee Oh Sees as much as possible, Thee Oh Sees are playing.

San Franciscans across the city bubbled with excitement about the announcement. "I go every year regardless of the lineup because Golden Gate Park is the best urban outdoor venue in the world," said Alex Maxa, who drives his souped-up vintage schoolbus into the park for a weekend of tailgating in style. "But this year's is possibly my favorite festival lineup I've seen anywhere." (Bonus: Interested parties can now rent out Maxa's bus, complete with its own driver!)

According to a study conducted by San Francisco State University, Outside Lands brought over $60 million into the local economy last year and created nearly 700 full time-equivalent jobs.

"Outside Lands is an iconic part of San Francisco's summer, bringing people from all over the country--and the world--to our great city," said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee in a statement. "In just four years, Outside Lands has brought significant revenue to the city and helped to create jobs, and I look forward to its fifth year this summer."

You can check out the full lineup here and in the slideshow below, and be sure to listen to our editors picks playlist for some highlights.

But if none of these bands get you all hot under the collar, Phish is playing three nights at the Bill Graham Civic the week after the festival.
