Josh Hutcherson Adopts Pit Bull Rescue Puppy

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 04/18/2012 3:44 pm Updated: 04/19/2012 5:59 pm

There's one more reason for people to swoon over Josh Hutcherson: the 'Hunger Games' star has adopted a rescue pit bull puppy, according to his Facebook fan page.

The status update on the adoption -- which acquired 10,000 Likes in 9 hours time -- reads "Way to go Josh! Josh just adopted a Blue Pit puppy from a pit rescue!! Thanks to Josh, he now has a full stomach, warm bed and loving owner!"

According to TooFab.com, the puppy, called Driver, had to undergo surgery for a broken femur and is also missing a couple toes. Sasha Rose, from Hands Paws Hearts in Lancaster, CA, said they rescued the dog from the Downey Animal Shelter.

Fans of Hutcherson are already finding his altruistic move almost too much to handle, commenting on the Facebook page, "omg he's literally perfect" and "Adopt me, please."

Celebrity gossip site OhNoTheyDidnt posted several photos of the actor nuzzling his new pitbull, declaring that, "Josh Hutcherson + puppy = Best post of 2012".

According to Pit Bull Rescue Central, an estimated 200 pitbulls are killed per day in Los Angeles alone because they can't find homes.

He adopted a rescue, pit bull, who had had a rough start?

Peeta isn't even my favorite character in the book (haven't seen the movie) and I'm his fan now.. :)

(a pit bull is a food driven love machine whose worst traits are being incredibly pig headed and willing to do anything for the approval and love of the humans in their lives.. If you meet a pit bull who is mean or vicious? Look at the humans they live with, and you will see the reason why.)

What a sweet puppy!

This is funny, but when I look at the last picture, my thought is: ooh, they both have chiseled facial structure.

:)

Silly but true.

(I adore the Peeta character and Josh did a great job portraying him, so I mean no offense. He's a cutie!)

I'm sure the McGrew family in South Carolina would have agreed with you until their rescue dog killed and dismembered their 2-month-old baby last week.

not exactly sure what that has to do with this puppy. Dogs are rescued everyday and live out their entire lives in harmony with their families. When my vet was a child, his parents brought home a dog who came from champion blood lines. The dog ended up biting him in the face. That dog wasn't from a rescue.

Right, because that TOTALLY has anything to do with the fact that they adopted the dog -_-

AWWWWWW! Such a cutie. We have two pit mixes (and a chow mix) and they are just the best, snuggliest dogs, so misunderstood as a breed...

Beautifull pup. a broke foot and missing toes, sounds like the little guy had a rough start. Hope things will get better for hm. @00 dogs ady. That is so sad! Unbeleiveable. These guys have got to be the most abused, neglected, and misunderstood breed of all dogs.

Euthanize the dogfighter, not the dog.....

Cool move.....If ANY living creature has been the unjust victim of breed "profiling", it is Pitties.

Contrary to what the uneducated public and sensationalist media may tell you, Pits are one of the best dogs you could ever own. Gentle, loving, and great with children.

Pits are victims of their own incredible attributes of strength, dedication, and tenacity by ruthless pigs who train them as fighting dogs.

Don't blame the breed. "Profiling" dogs based on breed is no better than judging the integrity of an individual based solely on their race.

Well put. Ban the abusers, not the breed.
