McDonald's Worker Marvin Washington, Jr. Arrested For Spitting In Customers' Drinks (VIDEO)

A South Carolina county's deputies say McDonald's employee Marvin Washington, Jr., spit in two customers' cups of iced tea after the drinks were returned because they weren't sweet enough.

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. -- A South Carolina county's deputies say a McDonald's employee spit in two customers' cups of iced tea after the drinks were returned because they weren't sweet enough.

Authorities say 19-year-old Marvin Washington Jr. was arrested Wednesday and charged with malicious tampering with food.

Greenville County investigators say surveillance video caught Washington leaning over the cups before he filled them Saturday at the Simpsonville restaurant. Authorities say the customers discovered phlegm when they removed the lids of the drinks to add more sugar because the iced tea still was not sweet enough.

The owner of the McDonald's says he follows stringent food safety procedures and asked people not to reach conclusions until all the facts come out.

It wasn't immediately clear Wednesday if Washington had a lawyer.

How would she know it's still not sweet enough, unless she already drank some of that spit! If this were a white kid spitting in a black family's cup, I doubt this would make the NIGHTLY NEWS! Geez, I mean was there no murder or robbery that night? You have to ruin one kid's life with media attention just because he had a bad day, hormones (he is a teenager afterall, who hasn't thought about doing that as a teen?), or whatever.

I am white, and geez, even I am sick of all this prevalent racism in the media, government, world, life, and so on.

Through all the comments, I don't see a single person who picked up on that the only 'proof' was video of the guy 'leaning over the drinks'. Alright.

In other words, how do you know the total and complete winners, that is, those lovely customers, didn't spit into their own drinks trying to make a lawsuit out of this?

Whether has a lawyer or not ( probably a FREE one if any ) the fact remains as to what he did. Measures should be taken to be sure he has NO contagious disease, such as aids, hiv. Remember. Most of the nasty germs reside in the mouths and back of the throats. Can be very severe. Have him tested "vigorously" and make HIM pay for the tests.

I worked in fast paced restaurants and it was hard thankless work and it never ever occurred to me to do anything bad to the customers food. the thought never even crossed my mind. What is wrong with people nowdays?
