Sex Robots Will Revolutionize Sex Tourism, Report Says (NSFW)

They don't spread disease and they can't be sold into sex slavery.

Those are just two of the advantages of robot prostitutes, which will be edging out their human competition in the sex tourism market by the year 2050, according to an article published in the journal Futures.

The Dominion Post, which found the study, writes that sex tourists will shell out about $10,000 Euros for services ranging from massages and lap dances to intercourse, according to the article.

The researchers lay out why this scenario will be the future of sex tourism:

Human trafficking, sexual transmitted diseases, beauty and physical perfection, pleasure for sex toys, emotional connection to robots and the importance of sex in Amsterdam are all driving forces.

But some are not so sure that robots will be replacing female sex workers any time soon.

CBS Las Vegas spoke to Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Carson City, Nev.

“Those Australian researchers ought to come to the Bunny Ranch to see what real American sex is like – there’s no way to duplicate it,” Hof told CBS Las Vegas. “At the Bunny Ranch, we say ‘it’s not just the sex, it’s an adventure’ – and often times it’s more about the adventure than it is the sex.”

Time will tell.

Well, as soon as I came across this story I decided this sounds interesting and decided to check into it.
I hopped into my TDCaT (Time Displacement Continuum-adjusting Transporter), set the controls and a few search parameters, and arrived about 60 years from now. I had to wait about a day before the headache went away (that always happens with the TDCaT) and got one of the most gorgeous models they had. Paying was a bit of a problem, but I had put some money in an account a few years ago and managed to tap that. Then I brought her back.
The first several days she complained of a headache. She started to complain how primitive everything was around here and no place to have fun! Then she said she was bored! By now I had started digging into the manual (all 15 BR-DVDs of it!) only to find there are no user-control interfaces! And no on-off switch! There was a warning about a self-destruct if the device was tampered with.
Finally, she consented. After 15 seconds she apparently turned herself off and just lay there. The same happened the next day.
Now, weeks later, she just sits there and complains how inadequate I am compared to her previous (robot) boy-toy 60 odd years from now!

After posting this I realized I was in the old, nearly abandoned thread.  I tried to re-post it in the new thread with a few minor changes and improvements, but the "brilliant" HP software wouldn't let me do that.  I thought nobody would ever get to see my little gem again.  Thanks!

I submit that the only word of value in this sentence is "soon."

"Soon" is a relative term, and I'd say there is considerable influence - as well as a financial pot of gold - to create truly functional & fascinating 'droid companions, as quickly as they can.

So the actual matter of whether operational, realistic and affordable robots are sitting & smiling - truly interacting with their human hosts - withing 10 years or 20, is irrelevant.

I'd say the reality of these 'bots is far, far closer, than cell phones were in 1975.
