How Mitt Romney Sees The United States (INTERACTIVE)

Over the course of the 2012 campaign, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has proven himself a master of a routine political tactic: the pander.

The former Massachusetts governor has massaged his skills, catering to specific regions and groups of constituents. As the primary transitions to the general election, the map below reflects an interpretation of Romney's vision of the United States. While the representation is largely satirical, click on filled-in tiles to hear how Romney has previously pandered on the trail during the campaign. Or click on the larger picture, if you dare.

Bush was a cipher, so empty-headed that Cheney could pour anything into him and make it come out (with mangled syntax) as he wished. Romney is nothing, not even a politician despite his governorship of Massachusetts. The adhesive lacking from his empty personality is the explanation of how he has taken both sides of all public issues over the last 25 years. I have my complaints about president Obama, but  Read More...

And yet, your inane posts continue to make it through. However, if someone tried to post a word of dissent on a right-wing site, their account quickly gets banned.

Just another example of the constant use of projection from the Rushpublicans.

Recently, on The Colbert Report, Arianna Huffington replied to Colbert's "jibe" that HP was the left vs the right: "no, it is about the right vs the wrong". Brilliant comeback (by you G1 and her)!

How Romney sees the USA is irrelevant, How I see Romney is much more telling. Romney's campaign strategy has always been painfully obvious: run to the hard right during the primaries; persuade the Republican base that he no longer holds any of the beliefs he used to embrace; lock up the nomination; then shake the Etch A Sketch and move towards the American mainstream. Lie, deceive, deny and pretend.

I read Audacity of Hope before the '08 election, but I have always been a dyed in the wool Democrat ready to vote for President Obama from the beginning.

His amazing ability to tell the story of our American political system should have enlightened enough people back then, that he would govern as a moderate but progressive Democratic president. I never had any illusions about him, or that he would try to seek consensus as a politician, but I think he has gotten the learning curve just about right. He finally learned that when their is no one on the other side of the aisle to make compromises with, its time to quit beating your head against the wall, and step out and pave your own way forward. His compassion as a human being came across so sincerely and truthfully in his writing. I'm really looking forward to him in office for another 4 years.

If you haven't read it, check out 'Back to Work' by Clinton. Once you get past the self-grandizing ideology at the beginning, it's an interesting read with a lot of good ideas and proposals.
