Scott Walker Praises Ted Nugent, Castle Doctrine

Posted: 04/19/2012 10:56 am Updated: 04/19/2012 2:11 pm

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker attended the National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis last weekend where Ted Nugent made threatening remarks about President Obama. The event reminded Walker of an NRA convention held in Milwaukee two years ago, where Walker gave the welcome address and loved meeting Nugent.

"The best part was I got to meet Ted Nugent before he played the National Anthem on his guitar," Walker said with a wistful smile in a video (watch above) shared on YouTube by James Carter, a public policy graduate student.

Nugent is currently under Secret Service investigation for saying that he would be "dead or in jail by this time next year" if Obama is reelected and comparing Democrats to to "coyotes" that needed to be shot.

Walker was also asked about the Castle Doctrine he signed into law in Wisconsin last year. The measure is similar to Florida's Stand Your Ground gun law, which has come under scrutiny in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting.

"Another thing I was proud to sign," he said. "For me thinking not only about people protecting their home and their property, but being able to protect their family and their loved ones in their home and on their property."

Walker faces a recall election June 5 and recently released attack ads against his Democratic challengers.

Walker is certainly simple. But then I'd rather have someone clueless enough to embrace things like the NRA's gonzo law fetish and gonzo rocker Ted Nugent than someone slick enough to try and play innocent...

I grew up in Wisconsin, have land there and my family is still living there, but this state is not the same one I remember. I wish you well in recalling this guy. The state of Wisconsin deserves much better.

To all of us in Wisconsin who support Govenor Scott Walker, we need to stand up with him. Right now.
This is what we are up against. We need to understand that this whole recall has nothing to do with Collective Barganing, Contributing to Pensions, or Health Insurance. The other side has abandon those issues.
It's all about the vile hatered the left has for anyone who disagrees with them. The state employees unions ( including the teachers unions) are not accepting that they lost an election. Only 14% of the work force in this state are in unions. Even less are in Public Employee unions. This vast minority has to use hatred and lies to try to convince the voters to recall Gov. Walker.
Gov. Walker was right to do Act 10. the collective temper tantrum of the unions has proven that these unions would not negotiate in good faith. The large majority of school layoffs have come from districts that did not use the Act 10 Buget repair bill to negotiate their contracts.
What do they want to take us back to.
Higher Taxes.
3 billion dollar deficits.
Larger Employee Layoffs.
Business fleeing the state. ( since Walker has been Gov. 15,000 private sector jobs created.)

The alternative is pretty scary. We need to start sharing the big sucess story that has taken place in Wisconsin since Gov. Walker was elected.
The facts must be a very scarry thing to the Unions.

STAND UP NOW. .
.

Do you mean "scary"? "Hatred"? Obviously, you are not an English teacher.
04:20 PM on 04/20/2012
If that is the best you can do to respond to some facts that I presented, I see that Walker winning this recall election may not be as difficult as I thought.

The NRA and gun manufacturers have a dilemma. Their products are durable and never wear out. Anyone who wants a gun already owns at least one. So their market is pretty well saturated.

So to increase sales they have to sell more guns to people who already own guns by offering more fire power. To create a new demand among people who do not currently own guns they actually promote violance and crime to create a climate of fear.

Nugent may have threatened the pResident. But the pResident, and virtually every single member of Congress, both Democratic and Republican alike, threaten "We the People" every time they commit mass treason and pass another one of their unconstitutional bills into law.

Just because you don't like something that doesn't make it unconstitutional. For one, the founders themselves passed a law that mandates individual citizens to purchase and maintain a product produced by the private sector. In 1792, congress passed and George Washington signed The Second Militia Act of 1792 which MANDATED that ALL males (all white males that is) between ages 18 and 45 should be required to purchase and maintain a firearm. So if the founding fathers thought that the federal govt mandating you to purchase a particular product was "unconstitutional" then they never would have mandated that everyone buy a gun. But they DID pass that law and our first president signed it. The Supreme Court didn't step in and call it unconstitutional.

I despise guns. I don't have any, and I don't want any. But for the story to insinuate that Wisconsin's Castle Doctrine is equally as dangerous/controversial as the Stand Your Ground law in Florida is absolutely r.i.d.i.c.u.l.o.u.s!! There is no comparing being legally allowed to shoot someone who has entered your home to being able to carry a gun in public and shoot someone down after chasing them and "standing your ground".

C'mon...Huffpost. Don't be soooo sensationalistic - that's why we hate FOX.

Does the Castle Doctrine include those on your property or only inside your home? Just curious. Could you post a link?

I'm with you. I don't like guns either. I used to target shoot but stopped. Too many deaths by guns and it seems to be getting easier to get one and to kill someone thanks to laws like Stand Your Ground. F&F
