Sylvester Stallone Home: Selling Desert Home (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Inside Stallone's Desert Getaway

Maybe the noise of Coachella was just too much for Sly Stallone, who has listed for sale his La Quinta desert home in the Coachella Valley at $4.5 million. Real estate wags say the question isn't really why he's selling, but why he bought it in 2010 in the first place. Stallone's principal residence is in a Los Angeles gated community.

But Rocky! The desert? Isn't that for retirees? And if there was a worst-time to buy than 2010 (besides 2009), do tell us about it.

The new-to-the-market 5,173-square-foot place has four bedrooms and is in a high-end (also gated) community known as The Madison. It's in Riverside County for those whose maps to the stars' homes need updating.

Public records show the property was bought in the name of Stallone's go-to real estate middleman, Lester J. Knispel in January of 2010 for $4.5 million with no loan, suggesting a cash purchase. Public records sometimes don't record loans properly, but Stallone's continued success as an actor, filmmaker, screenwriter and director may have made this a chump change deal. In addition to the Rocky and Rambo franchises for which he is best-known, Stallone wrote, directed and starred in the 2010 "The Expendables." "The Expendables 2" is scheduled for release this summer and Stallone is slated to star in next year's action thriller "The Tomb," sharing the spotlight with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
