'American Idol' Dick Clark Tribute: Ryan Seacrest Honors His Personal Idol (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

For decades, Dick Clark was one of a kind. Then, through the course of the last ten years or so, there was another. Ryan Seacrest was always open about his admiration for the groundbreaking television icon, and has begun to emulate his own career in many ways after that of Clark. It's no wonder Seacrest and "American Idol" (Wed., 8 p.m. ET on Fox) put together a touching tribute for Dick Clark.

Seacrest even had the honor of serving alongside Dick Clark the past several years on "Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve." In more recent years, Seacrest's name has been added to that, but Clark's name will probably headline that title at least one more year.

It was a short, but sweet, look at a legendary career that's spanned virtually the entire breadth of television, marrying it with the music industry in a way no one had done before. Considering "Idol" did that same thing for the reality television format, what better place to honor Dick Clark, and who better to do it than Ryan Seacrest.

Check out HuffPost TV's full recap of the episode, including the shocking elimination, here, and tune in next week for the Top 6 on "American Idol," Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
