Barbara Boxer: 'If You're A Self-Respecting Human Being, Vote Obama'

Barbara Boxer made a strong statement about the 2012 election this week.

"I gotta say to the women out there, whether you're Republican or Democrat or Independent, if you're a self-respecting human being, please vote for President Obama, and to the men who care about women, do the same thing", she told Al Sharpton Wednesday night on MSNBC's Politics Nation.

Boxer's comments came in the middle of a heated discussion about Republicans' record on women's rights. The California congresswoman criticized Mitt Romney's indecisiveness on such issues as the Lilly Ledbetter Act, a 2009 law signed by President Obama that makes it easier for women to receive equal pay.

"This is the issue of our time," Boxer said.

Though Romney has tried to argue that Obama is worse for women than Republicans, he refused to say whether or not he would have signed the law as president. When HuffPost's Sam Stein asked a Romney adviser about whether or not the GOP hopeful supports the legislation, he responded, "we'll get back to you on that." Hours later, the campaign responded but not before receiving a barrage of criticism from activists and the Obama campaign.

Even Lilly Ledbetter criticized Romney and other Republicans for failing to stand up for equal pay.

Boxer is the sort of CA progressive who demonize those who DO NOT agree with her ideas. Apparently my hardworking 6th grade language arts teacher is not self-respecting...She has been both, a stay at home mom and now a full time teacher. (About 70 hours a week).

BTW stay at home moms do work. There is no such thing as a women's issue (other than breast cancer and other health issues)...not since the right to Vote.

Women disagree about a lot of things. Not every women wants to work, or become CEO...but there are female CEO's. Womens' violence? yes, Mens violence? of course. Progressive women show their snobbery when the most vile things are said about female conservatives and they say nothing. Women want many of same things that men want, Love, a job, the right to pursue happiness and get joy. To rule out 40% to 50% of women and tell them they are not self-respecting because they don't agree with her...is..frankly nuts. Satan is confusing this Barbara Boxer:

Why am I clueless, because three days ago the SEC was going to regulate derivitives and Obama's Whitehouse told them to not regulate them, and that the markets will regulate. AKA Deregulation. And YES DUH THAT HAPPENED through Bush JR and started at the end of Clintons term when LARRY SUMMERS and co got rid of the Glass Stegal Act. That is typical of Republicans - qualify rights. When does someone have to "qualify" for rights based on the self-serving secondary characteristic criteriat that Repubs wish to inflict on every human being? Last I checked rights were inalienable and not limited to a specific qualifacation. I've been voting since 1980, and have yet to find a TeaGOPer I would vote for. From the Reagan campaign on, the TeaGOPers ONLY focus when it comes to women has been abortion, as though childbearing is the only concern we have. Somehow, in the TeaGOPers eyes, women who do not want to be housewives and mothers are "bad", "wrong", "self absorbed", or somehow lacking. And the idea that a woman would want to be paid equally to a man is a foreign concept to them. In their minds, no woman is the soul breadwinner in the home, and there is something inherently evil if she is.
