Earth Day 2012: A List Of NOT So Eco-Friendly Style Icons (PHOTOS)

Sunday is Earth Day 2012, and while several fashionistas will be focusing on ways to decrease carbon footprints and incorporate eco-friendly fabrics, there are a few style icons who have run into a hint of "going green" trouble in the past.

Let's call them the Earth Day Villains.

From defending the use of fur in fashion or using animal meat as a fashion statement (you know who we're talking about), these style icons have at one point landed themselves on the naughty list compiled by green activists.

Lots of young starting-out actresses drop their clothes to get noticed, be it for the centerfold or for PETA. No big surprise they started wearing fur later on....they used PETA for what they needed at the time. As far as caring what PETA thinks? Oh, oops, PETA and the word 'think' in the same sentence...silly me!

"dying...blue"? Is that dying and turning blue, or maybe dying from being beaten black and blue, or what? Perhaps the author meant "dyeing"? Which happens to mean coloring something.

Some of these people I'm sure deserve to be on the list, but dying your dog blue and personally killing the meat you eat? Really? What, it's better to let someone else kill the animals you eat so you don't have to see the reality? That's somehow more 'moral'?

ALL greenwashed icons, media celebs, sports heroes, and supermodels have enormous Eco-footprints. With the possible exception of Begley and Hannah, none of them do more than pay lip service to "Green issues", and only because their publicist says it increases their fan-base.
