Hilary Duff Kept Umbilical Cord Stump After Luca's Birth

Posted: Updated:

Hilary Duff has been very open about becoming a mom to baby Luca Cruz in March, but we think this new celebrity mom might have overshared just a bit when she revealed she secretly kept the stump from her newborn son's umbilical cord.

Duff, who is the new spokesperson for Johnson’s Baby Cares initiative, chatted with People about all the experiences that come with being a new mom, but one benchmark definitely stood out.

“You know what was a big milestone? The belly button falling off. That was a huge one. And then I wanted to keep it but my husband was like, ‘No, that’s gross, you can’t keep it!’ I’m like, ‘I’m totally keeping it,’ and I secretly kept it." Duff adds, laughing, “But now it’s not a secret anymore. It’s in a Ziploc bag in the back of my makeup drawer. Luca’s going to think I’m a freak!”

This certainly isn't the only head-turning tale from a new celebrity mom. Earlier this month, we learned actress Alicia Silverstone likes to feed her son, Bear, by spitting already-chewed food into his mouth. It was also revealed "Mad Men" star January Jones ate her own placenta in order to stay energized on set after giving birth to her son, Xander.

Hey, whatever works, guys!
