King's Troop Royal Horse 'Tango' Kisses Dog 'Lord Percy' At Major General's Inspection In Hyde Park, London (PHOTOS)

Captured in these adorable photographs is proof that a dog can be a horse's best friend too.

On April 19th, prior to the Major General's Inspection in Hyde Park, London, in preparation for the 2012 State Ceremonial, Captain Owen Beynon Brown of the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery introduced his dog 'Lord Percy' to horse 'Tango', MSNBC reports.

Getting a smooch and nibble on his cute schnoz, Lord Percy looked like he was enjoying all the horsing around.

It's not all frolicking fun for these royal horses, however.

With 54 riders and 72 horses, the King's Troop will be taking part in several important ceremonial roles in 2012 including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

Whew. Glad horses aren't carnivorous. :)

They may knock us down and walk on us but they won't eat us. : )

Wow. And we humans get all nervous when something the shape as us is a slightly different color.

Dogs: leading by example, and not showing any signs of giving up on us.

I think one of the best micro-bio's I've seen on HuffPo was, "My Goal: To be the person my dog thinks I am".

Dogs love horses. To them, they're great big super-doggies!

What sort of dog is that? I'd be glad to know because my 2d-grade daughter is, well, hounding me for a dog. No kidding, though: I'd be grateful for some guidance. I liked the calm, intelligent face of this dog. --Trace Wogmon thwog@msn.com

I'm not a dog expert, but I think that dog is a Jack Russell Terrier. Great little guys. If possible, though, you should get a dog from a shelter. They also have puppies, if you would not prefer a grown dog.

roger37 is correct. That is a Jack Russell. I agree on getting a shelter dog too. Jack Russell's are a great breed, but they ARE terriers, so they have a tendency to nip and they have TONS of energy. So I wouldn't recommend getting one for a second grader. You'd be better off getting a Labrador or a Golden Retriever or a mix containing one of the two. They love kids and they have all kinds of patience with them. I have a lab and he adores my son so much that he never leaves his side.

I was first put on a horse when I was 2 and never looked back. Been riding both western and english since I was 8 and miss it terribly. Cannot ride anymore because of my disease, but I can still walk the horse (I mean with me on him/her); can't canter or trot or race anymore.

The pictures actually made my eyes well up with tears because I used to be a competitive rider at one time, riding everything from point-to-point, steeplechase, polo and barrel racing. I loved riding. Nothing like having a huge beast underneath you, obeying every command.

Except for the times I was jumping and got thrown 4 times in two weeks. I was lucky I didn't break my neck, just sore as hell. But I got back on the same horse and MADE him jump. Ornery beast, he was.

Just a small dog and a bigger one. Most horses like dogs, even the ones who herd them.

That was too cool. I took my dogs to the dog park that sits next to a farm for the animals to interact. My Bichon and Terrier wanted nothing to do with the horses or cows; however they went gaga over the pigs ears.

The horse and dog are darling.
It's been many, many years since I've been to the San Diego Zoo....but, I see they are still a class act!
