Marijuana In The City: A Primer On Chicago's Laws, Busts & Buzzkills

Friday is 4/20! Do you know what that means?

While many know these numbers have an affiliation with marijuana use, its origins had been the stuff of legends until The Huffington Post's Ryan Grim hunted down the original "Waldos" behind the code.

It has certainly spread as far as Chicago, where there are open festivities Friday as well as undoubtedly many underground celebrations (possession is still illegal in Chicago and Illinois). California's Lagunitas brewery, currently developing a new plant on Chicago's South Side, is welcoming its new neighbors to try a limited-edition beer, Waldo's Special Ale, which they'll tap at 4:20 p.m. Friday at bars across Chicago.

Whether you're celebrating openly, festively toking in secret or totally bypassing 4/20 this year, it's a good excuse to bone up on the city and state's current status and recent headlines on the topic.
