Madden 13 Cover Vote: Cam Newton Challenges Calvin Johnson, Fans To Play Him In Madden (VIDEO)

Cam Newton wants to be the cover boy to the next Madden NFL video game produced by EA.

And he’s taken to the Internet to appeal to his fans.

Newton has produced a YouTube video seven minutes in length appealing to fans to vote for him in his competition with Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

He’s serious.

“This is a big deal for me because I play Madden,” Newton said, according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer.

“I don't believe in (the curse) because right now I am in the midst of OTA practices, working to be the best player I can be, along with my teammates,” Newton said. “And I'm pretty sure everyone in the league is doing the same thing.”

Newton challenges Megatron to a showdown playing the game.

“Madden 13 needs a real gamer,” Newton said. “I am that.”

The winner will be revealed on Wednesday. And then talk of the curse will continue.
