For Sybrina: Show Your Support And Share Your Mother's Day Wishes For Trayvon Martin's Mother (UPDATE)

Posted: 04/22/2012 10:56 am Updated: 05/13/2012 1:15 pm

Over the last three weeks, we've been amazed by the outpouring of love and support you've shown for the For Sybrina Project. We've received hundreds of cards, letters, poems, tweets and videos from all over the world showing love to Trayvon Martin's mother for Mother's Day.

Things got even better when we partnered with the national black mother's organization, Mocha Moms, Inc. Founded 15 years ago, Mocha Moms, Inc. has over 100 chapters across the country and its platform includes strengthening marriages and families, promoting self-care, strong educational foundations and volunteerism. Mocha Moms put out the call to their chapters to have For Sybrina cardmaking parties and the response was incredible. Thanks to Mocha Moms, participants in the Annual Harlem Mother's Day Parade and the Essie Davis Memorial Annual Scholarship Fund Committee, the For Sybrina Project was able to physically mail a big care package of homemade cards and letters to Sybrina Fulton just in time for Mother's Day. We've highlighted some of the card parties and some of your submissions below.

You can see all of the submissions at the For Sybrina Project Tumblr

Previously 5/10/12: In two weeks the For Sybrina Project, our Mothers Day Campaign saluting Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mom, has touched the hearts of hundreds. From Hollywood: Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Tasha Smith, Tichina Arnold, Anika Noni Rose, Kim Coles and Taraji P. Henson took to Twitter, to Brooklyn, where many took to glue and glitter, to celebrate the strength and dignity of Sybrina.

The Essie Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee collected Mother’s Day messages For Sybrina at The Annual Harlem Mother’s Day Parade. Yet what has been most touching is the outpouring of support in poems, pictures and letters from everyday people from all of over the country and beyond. It’s not too late for you to add your voice to this long beautiful love song. It’s inspired by Sybrina Fulton, but serves as a tribute to mother’s everywhere who have lost children. See how you can join below.

Previously: Mother's Day is a day to honor our mothers and show our love. This year, Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mother, will face her first Mother's Day without her son, Trayvon.

Huffington Post BlackVoices, in partnership with Michaela Angela Davis and MAD FREE, wants to show love and support to Trayvon Martin's mother on this special day. We need your help.

Join us and be a part of the For Sybrina Project! Share your words of love, encouragement, photos, drawing, cards and letters (be creative!) and help us compile a Mother's Day gift for Sybrina Fulton that will help her know she's not alone on Mother's Day.

Here's how you can submit your Mother's Day cards and join the For Sybrina Project:

Submissions will be featured on the For Sybrina Project tumblr. Select submissions will be chosen to be compiled into a photo book that will be sent directly to Sybrina Fulton in time for Mother's Day. Select submissions will also be featured on Huffington Post. Submissions are subject to our User Agreement.

Help make this Mother's Day really special for Trayvon Martin's mother and share your Mother's Day wishes today!

I'm not sure the expression on the faces of the people in that crowd is love.

To Sabrina Fulton, may this Mother's Day be one that gives you strength, clarity and enduring love! As a Mom, I cried many days about what happened to Trayvon. He was a special spirit to me. I know that his life is meant to be a powerful and lingering force on the earth for good and you have shown us how that looks. I thank you for all that you have done for all mothers because you have truly touched all of us! We stand with you in many ways, keep up the fight and ask us for help whenever you need us! Love to you, Trayvon's father and to the family.

I think there are a lot of well wishes that have been posted that have not shown up. HuffPo? I know my own hasn't, and based on a look at the time stamps on recent posts, I believe hundreds of others are not showing, as well.

We must watch this case 24-7.And we must educate our children to sit in seats of power.AND DO THE RIGHT THING ONCE THEY ARE IN POWER

Sabrina Fulton...Have a Happy Mother's Day in spite of your loss, God has a purpose and plan for every life he creates and I think that Trayvon was here for the purpose of drawing attention to the racism and hate that hasn't been discussed that once lurked in the shadows of our nation....

Through his murder, laws that were written to hurt and harm us that we didn’t know about became public...we will seek to right the ship. All life is precious and his was as well...
I will lift my eye's unto the hills from which comes my help...my help comes from the Lord...

In Prayer, we've got your back...Happy Mother's Day

Give me a break. My nephew was killed by 4 gangbangers 2 years ago. Two were black and two were white. No one is sending my sister any mothers day sentiment. I am sick and tired of hearing about this. face it. if the situation would have been ANY different than a black boy being shot by a white man, NO ONE WOULD CARE! Stop the race war NOW!

Agreed. I don't know why they are trying to perpetuate this.

There are thousands of women who loose their children to violence every year. Whether it is gang related, random acts of violence or even while serving thier country, a loss is still a loss. I lost a child and while not in a violent manner, Mother's day is very hard for me. I'm fairly certain that Mother's Day is difficult for them also. I'm not exactly sure what makes this one woman so special? Perhaps instead of honoring this one lady, all mothers who loose a child should be honored.

Happy Mother's Day Sybrina,

Although this day will be bittersweet, surround yourself with people you love and remember previous ones spent with Trayvon. I attended my son's high school graduation and I am reminded of the powerful loss you have sustained. Continue to press on with the class and dignit you constantly display. You are in my prayers!

11:54 PM on 05/10/2012
Raping a girl and defending yourself are two totally different things. Just an FYI.

Think for yourself. Question authority.

Did you mean defending yourself for raping a girl and defending yourself for murdering a boy are two different things?

He was wearing a HOODIE and eatin' SKITTLES. Zimmerman, the WHITE-HISPANIC STALKED him and killed him in COLD BLOOD for STANDING HIS GROUND. There, I think I got all the talking points.

as a mother, i know that sybrina misses her son but GOD will handle george zimmerman because GOD doesn't like killers who killed children for nothing. if he was so afraid of his life, well he should have stayed in the car not posing as john wayne. florida is a nice place to visit but not to stay there because it always has so much drama. to all mothers, happy mothers day and hug your kids!
