Fiona Apple, 'Every Single Night': Singer Releases First Single Off New Album (AUDIO)

LISTEN: Fiona Apple Releases First Single Off New Album

Fiona Apple has released the first single off her anticipated new album, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. If that looks like the name of a Sufjan Stevens track to you, don't worry: the album title is supposed to be 23 words long.

At first listen, the new track, "Every Single Night," sounds like a willowy and tortured lullaby. "Every single night is a fight with my brain," she chants over the chorus. "I just want to feel everything."

Apple performed the track, along with a few other new songs, during a pair of appearances at the SXSW music festival last month in Austin, TX.

The Idler Wheel, Apple's follow-up to 2005's Extraordinary Machine, will drop on June 19, courtesy of Epic Records. Apple will kick off her 27-date U.S. and Canadian tour on the same day, in Ithaca, New York.
