The estranged husband of Jacque Sue Waller, the missing mother of young triplets from Missouri, has been arrested for her murder.

James "Clay" Waller, 40, was charged Monday with first degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence. He is being held on a one million dollar bond, according to the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutor's Office.

"There is a bit of relief in knowing that charges have been brought against Clay Waller. Perhaps he will finally feel compelled to reveal the location of our daughter," Stan Rawson, Jacque Sue Waller's father, said in a statement to The Huffington Post.

Jacque Sue Waller, 39, of Cape Girardeau, was last seen on June 1, 2011, when she went to her estranged husband's house to pick up her son. The child was not at the home when she arrived, and what happened to her after that remains a mystery.

During police questioning, Clay Waller said she arrived at his house around 4 p.m. He said they got into an argument and she stormed off on foot. Waller said he left and when he returned about two hours later, her car was gone. The vehicle was later found abandoned with a flat tire on nearby Interstate 55. Jacque Sue Waller's purse, keys and cellphone were not found inside the vehicle, police said.

Her Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield business cards were later found inside a packet along Missouri Route 177, roughly 10 miles from where her car was found. Jacque Waller, according to police, is a manager at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Cape Girardeau.

A former police officer, Clay Waller was almost immediately named a person of interest in the case.

According to court documents, investigators conducted a search of Clay Waller's home in the days following his wife's disappearance. During the search, they allegedly found blood splatter in a hallway and on several pieces of torn carpet that had been hidden in a crawl space. The stains were later matched to Jacque Sue Waller's DNA profile.

Investigators found additional evidence during a search of her laptop. On the hard drive they found a diary she kept, in which she allegedly claimed her husband had threatened to kill her, according to court documents.

Court documents also state Clay Waller was "largely uncooperative, and at times, intentionally obstructive to the investigation by concealing/destroying suspect evidence, planting false evidence and deliberately misleading officers in their effort to locate his wife."

Contacted Monday by The Huffington Post, his attorney, Scott Douglas Reynolds, said he has yet to review the charges against his client.

"I found out literally an hour ago and have not had a chance to review the criminal complaint and have not had a chance to talk to Clay, so I cannot comment on it," Reynolds said.

Clay Waller is currently incarcerated in a Louisiana prison, where he is serving a five-year federal sentence for making Internet threats against Jacque Sue Waller's sister, Cheryl Rawson Brennecke.

In regard to the latest charges, Rawson said that while his family is confident justice will be served, they are hopeful Jacque Sue Waller's remains will be found.

"What we want more than anything ... is to have Jacque home with her family and finally at rest," Rawson said.

She disappeared June 2011 and he is currently incarcerated for making internet threats against Jacque's sister. Not only were they estranged, maybe Jacque had provided information to the feds and Clay decided that too was a good reason to get rid of her. Just for the sake of knowing, I'd like to know when he was charged with the federal offense, was there a trial and when was he finally incarcerated? I don't believe in that many coincidences....many motives here.

Here is just another case of someone who has no respect for human life. He is lacking seriously in morals/principles. Just like Van Der Sloot, this type of personality has no worth of self, therefore, they have no worth or value of anything else. It's pathetic nowadays that even HUMAN LIFE is not worth anything. If our lawmakers would stiffen penalties for this sort of thing, maybe, just maybe, people would then develop a conscience and either get help or remove themselves from situations before they get out of control and take another's life. It's just a selfish lack of respect for life in general.

Wow - that's some police work. With that mountain of evidence, circumstantial and othewise, it took them almost 10 months to arrest and charge the husband..? Hope they didn't hurt themselves patting each other on the back with this crack detective work...Was about the same level of evidence in the Casey Anthony case...Ooops- oh yeah, she was found not guilty...Hope the DA has better luck at finding 12 people who have a clue...

No relationship is worth killing someone. Not even if you're angry and lose control. If you feel like that, walk away. Get perspective. You don't have to like the other person, but killing them is not a solution. Now, these three young children have no mother and their father will most likely wind up in prison for her murder. Nice start to give these children. People's lack of problem solving skills continue to amaze me. And to the other spouse/partner, you can do your part too by not ramping things up. Be civil. You don't have to antagonize the other party (even if they're wrong). Take the high road. It just might save your life. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but I know these domestic disputes can get out of hand just because one party is trying to "zing" the other party. Don't push buttons and maybe, just maybe, everyone will act like adults.

This one could be hard to prove with no body. I am not divorced however, let this warn others to never go alone to an Ex's home. It just puts you in a bad situation. I can only imagine what happened to her. Had she gone with someone else or picked the kids up in a public place, she maybe be alive now.

Beautiful young woman and I too, feel so bad for her children and extended family members who will miss her from now on. There seems to be so many of these cases where the husband kills the wife, I can't help but wonder what the statistics are to do with it.
For single women out there of any age, if the man you're dating expresses anger often, even if in small ways or over-reacts to small things with quite a bit of anger, find someone else so that it will won't have a chance to get directed at you, because it could just keep getting worse with age.
JUST STAY AWAY FROM ANGRY MEN.

I wish that there was a way for parents to file restraining orders on behalf of their grown children at the first sign of domestic abuse. Why can't there be a domestic violence intervention just like there are drug and alcohol interventions?

This is so unfortunate, but Jacque is gone and not coming back even if they find the body. Jacque is not her body, she is the person who was in that body. If that body is not found alive, it means Jacque has gone elsewhere. By whatever means, cremation, exposure, or burial, this body will then sooner or later be returned to its elements. If those elements were the source of life we could indeed bring Jacque "back" by applying them to the deceased body and it would be resurrected. We know that is impossible, however, hence matter is not the source of life. Life comes from life. Life is the soul. May it be in peace.

Sentimentality cannot override the truth. There is a serious loss involved, but the person is not dead, only the body can die. Because the body is not the person, anymore than a dress is the body, when Jacque's body is returned to her family, she will not come with it. Being on the bodily platform of life leads to material attachment and such attachment leads to suffering. These conclusions are from GOD, given in Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Read it and you won't need drugs anymore.

Just like Drew Peterson. As I said before: Ladies, if you want to end up in a shallow grave, marry that cop. Their rates of spousal abuse and alcoholism are off the charts. Literally. There is no reliable way to quantify them because these slick SOB's are trained to cover their tracks. These are violent, immature, unintelligent, and emotionally unstable men who have been trained to never take no for an answer under any circumstances. "Till death do us part."

You're doing police officers in general a disservice. You can't lump them all together , any more than you can lump all engineers together , or all doctors , or etc. Yes , there are some bad ones out there , but they are not all like Drew Peterson or Clay Waller.
You are taking your chances with anyone these days , unless you grew up with them , you don't really know everything about them.
It isn't just police who are trained to cover their tracks , anyone with half a brain can do the same , since the invention of the internet to help them. It's a sick damn world and we all need to double and triple check who we let into our lives.

another wife killed? why ? when men leave , have affairs, drop their mate all the time. Why kill a mom when they can meet others? I know the answers are there but it is such a waste when he will meet someone else and drop her anyway

She was going to shake him down for alimony until they day he died and I'd bet her last words were something to that effect. I would advocate for a more elegant solution, but not too many are as smart as me and this is what we get.

How do you know that? And is paying for your children's support a "shakedown" to you?

You can't say she was going to "shake him down " for alimony the rest of his life because you didn't know either of them. When I told my cheating a$$ ex to leave , I wanted Nothing from him and I meant it. I packed a few boxes of My personal things and left and didn't look back. Some women just want nothing , no contact , no alimony , no support at all from the beasts they married. It's a shame he wanted it all and didn't want her around to share. Now their babies have no mommy and soon no daddy.

It's a control think a lot of males have and think they own you plus they are insecure ...You do what I say plus verbal, mental abuse or more..If she leaves then he lost control..so he kills her because he then has total control of her life at death. sick evil bast**ds and unfortunately the world is full of them and has been for thousands or years.. Be careful who you mate with....

Mr. Waller apparently had no problems committing murder, covering it up and leaving his children motherless. It seems like more and more these days, in the case of couples heading to divorce court that one of them decides he/she isn't going to share the marriage assets and decides that murder is a better option. This just goes to show that extreme selfishness and the "it's all about me," attitude is on the rise. I feel so bad for Jacque's family and for her children.
