'Axe Cop' Heading To Fox Late Night Cartoon Programming Block

'Axe Cop' Coming To Fox

"Axe Cop" is coming to Fox. The comic will come to life, via animation, as part of Fox's late-night block of cartoon programming, Animation Domination HD, launching in 2013.

“'Axe Cop' is one of the most creative, hilarious and naturally viral comic properties to emerge in the last decade,” Nick Weidenfeld, head of Animation Domination HD, said in a statement. "I've hoped someone would adapt 'Axe Cop' for television for years and couldn't be happier that we get to be that someone. 'Axe Cop' has all the makings of an iconic animated series and it will help set the tone for Fox’s new late-prime Saturday animation lineup.”

The new series is based on the popular web comic created by then five-year-old Malachai Nicolle, and his 29-year-old brother Ethan. "Axe Cop" follows an axe-wielding police officer and his team of allies. The first five installments, which were written by Malachai and drawn by Ethan, of "Axe Cop" debuted in January 2010.

Animation Domination HD has ordered six 15-minute episodes of the series. Animation Domination HD will air Saturdays starting at 11 p.m. ET in 2013 on Fox and across digital platforms.
