Letterman Tells Amy Poehler He Really Loves 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)

David Letterman Loves Amy Poehler And 'Parks & Rec'

Usually a guest goes on a talk show to hype and promote their latest project, but David Letterman took care of all of that for Amy Poehler when she came onto "Late Show" (Tue., 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS). Normally, it's unrealistic to expect a talk show host to have seen every movie or television project every guest has been a part of, so Poeher was genuinely touched that Letterman had taken the time to watch "Parks & Recreation."

"I got the first season of 'Parks & Recreation' and I gobbled my way right through that, and I thought this is fantastic," he told her. "It's very consistently funny. The cast is unequaled in television."

"Best cast in comedy or drama," Poehler echoed with a wry smile to the audience.

Most critics, and many of the people involved with the show, agree that the first season was the most uneven, so if Letterman keeps watching he's going to be in for quite a treat indeed. It was all Poehler could do to avoid blushing, the way Letterman just kept heaping praise on the show, even giving her a fist bump just to honor the accomplishment.

See what Letterman is so excited about by tuning into Amy Poehler on "Parks & Recreation," Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Then flip over to CBS and watch "Late Show" every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. ET.
