The ultimate "LA" baby. Born on the freeway!
In what her father calls a "miracle," Lea Racio Felix was born early and unexpected right in the middle of the 15 freeway in Riverside County, Calif., CBS reports.
The baby was due May 3 but her mother, Stephanie Felix, went into labor Saturday morning. "I said that I felt we weren’t going to make it because I could feel the baby coming,” Felix said. "I said, 'It feels better when I push.' And they were like, 'Don't push!' I was like, 'It's coming!'"
And indeed it did. Stephanie, her sister and her grandmother were only on the freeway for a few minutes before the baby started to crown. Amazingly, Stephanie's grandmother delivered the baby without any training. When asked how she did it, the grandmother said she had no idea: "I don't know. I don't know. I don't know."
The family wrapped the infant in a blanket, and paramedics soon arrived on the scene. Both Stephanie and Lea appear to be healthy, and the entire family is thrilled.
