2012 NFL Draft Live Updates: Round 1 Picks

Nfl Draft
NFL Draft 2012: Andrew Luck, left, and Robert Griffin III visit the New York Stock Exchange, Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

The 2012 NFL Draft is finally here.

We already know who the top two picks will be on Thursday night at Radio City Music Hall. But that doesn't mean there won't be any drama.

The Indianapolis Colts have already confirmed they they will select Stanford's Andrew Luck while the Washington Redskins revealed shortly before the draft that they will take Heisman winner Robert Griffin III (surprise!).

As for the rest the draft, nobody knows. The hundreds of mock drafts that have been released over the past few weeks have projected seemingly infinite outcomes. Will the Vikings go with USC's Matt Kalil? Or maybe they'll snag wide receiver Justin Blackmon?

Will there be any trades concocted in the various draft war rooms? Will Miami take Ryan Tannehill? Could he really be the next Dan Marino?

All of these questions will be answered tonight. The first round of the draft begins at 8 p.m. ET. Rounds two and three will take place on Friday night and the four through seven will be done on Saturday starting at noon.

Follow our live blog for each pick and commentary throughout the draft.

And that wraps up the first round.

With the last pick of the first round, the Giants will select running back David Wilson out of Virginia Tech.

Giants are on the clock with the last pick.

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : RB LeGarrette Blount had a +7.9 run rating which was 18th highest. Doesn't add much to the pass game though. Doug Martin should be able to.

Share this:
@ AdamSchefter : And Tampa Bay will take Boise St. RB Doug Martin.

Share this:

We just missed a pick because ESPN went to a commercial.

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : The 49ers WR position just got more interesting, with Crabtree, Manningham, Moss, Ginn, Kyle Williams and now A.J. Jenkins.

Share this:
@ EyeOnNFL : Broncos trade down again, this time with the Bucs moving up to No. 30.

Share this:

With the 30th pick, the 49ers take A.J. Jenkins, WR out of Illinois.

Share this:
@ JasonLaCanfora : 49ers up now, like some tough OL like Amini Silatolu

Share this:
@ AdamSchefter : Denver is trading out again....Tampa will trade to 31.

Share this:

Vikings traded with the Ravens to get the 29th pick, and they take Harrison Smith, safety out of Notre Dame.

Share this:
@ JasonLaCanfora : Ravens trade out of 1st round and get picks 35 and 98 in return. Lot of players graded together here for BAL. Makes sense

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : The Packers OLBs not named Matthews had just 6 sacks, 15 hits and 29 pressures in 2011. Nick Perry could start right away at ROLB.

Share this:
@ AdamSchefter : Green Bay had success at USC with Clay Matthews. Time to go back there....

Share this:

With the 28th pick, the Packers select Nick Perry, DE out of USC.

Share this:

With the 27th pick, the Cincinnati Bengals take Kevin Zeitler, OG out of Wisconsin.

Share this:

With the 26th pick, Houston takes DE Whitney Mercilus out of Illinois.

Share this:
@ JayGlazer : Poor Chandler Jones can FINALLY eat. Told me earlier he's been so nervous he hasn't been able to eat a thing. Crazy day for him

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : The Patriots front 7 will look fairly different in 2011. They added 3 free agents and 2 first round draft picks to them now with Hightower

Share this:

With the 25th pick, the Patriots take Dont'a Hightower, ILB out of Alabama.

Share this:

With the 24th pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers take David DeCastro, OG out of Stanford.

Share this:

With the 23rd pick, Detroit takes OT Riley Reiff out of Iowa. Schefter spoiling every pick is quite annoying.

Share this:
@ AdamSchefter : Lions taking Reilly Reiff. Steelers taking David DeCastro.

Share this:
@ EyeOnNFL : Denver trades its pick, No. 25., to … New England.

Share this:

At pick No. 22, Cleveland takes quarterback Brandon Weeden out of Oklahoma State. Bad news for Colt McCoy.

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : Chandler Jones fits a clear need in NE. They let Mark Anderson go to BUF, and haven't re-signed Andre Carter, Shaun Ellis or Gerard Warren

Share this:

Goodell gets booed a little more before announcing that Cincy has traded its pick to New England. The Patriots take Chandler Jones, DE from Syracuse.

Share this:
@ ProFootbalFocus : The Titans have Kenny Britt (+5.4 pass) and Nate Washington (+10.1 pass), and now add Kendall Wright. That is a nice trio of receivers.

Share this:

With the 20th pick, the Titans select Kendall Wright, WR out of Baylor.

Ugh. Why Dallas? You could have had a game changing player with Barron and instead you took a corner who's going to be Mr. Slightly Above Average and traded away your second round pick where you could have picked up another Mr. Slightly Above Average corner. Jerry Jones once again ruining the Cowboy draft.

When it was a "sport" it was something to watch and enjoy, now that it is nothing but a buisness it is something to loath and avoid.

The Stillers quietly do their thing from building from the bottom up with a solid offensive lineman. Not the "sexy" pick but "sexy" doesn't win 6 Super Bowls.

Who will be the biggest flop, the worst pick of the first round?

They need a LOT more than RG3 to solve their problems! They need the Steel Curtain, they need Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin. Jim Brown and Earl Campbell would come in handy. And it wouldn't hurt to have Morten Andersen or George Blanda out there either! I feel sorry for Luck and RG3 because everybody is expecting instant impact and it isn't going to happen!

I like Luck and Good Luck to him. I live in Northern CA so I'm a little bias. In fact I visited the Stanford just the other day an purchase of couple of those red Cardinal Hoodies. GO LUCK!

How lame does a sport have to be when the draft is "exciting"

Uh, actually if the draft is exciting it's kind of evidence that the sport is successful and very popular.

Skins fan worry the opposite is true. Some of us anyway. I did find it odd how dependent the Colts were on Manning though. Without him they almost became the 2007 Dolphins.

I'm kind of with you. Don't live on the West Coast so I haven't seen enough Stanford games (2), but dude looked overrated to me.

Has anyone ever watched him throw? The ball flutters. People tell me who cares it gets where it's supposed to go. Not for most of the second half of that USC game I saw, but who knows.
