A very large alligator surprised a Southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood when it was spotted wandering around as if it owned the place -- and one man got a little too close before wildlife officials arrived.

"It moved from the street... then it was on my lawn, then on my porch, like it wanted to come into the kitchen for dinner," a homeowner told WSVN.

NBC Miami reports reports the male gator was captured in front of a home in Schenley Park on Thursday night after neighbors called police and Florida Fish and Wildlife to report the traveling reptile.

In front of a gawking crowd, the great beast didn't go easy, and FWC officials said the alligator had to be destroyed because of his size. Watch below to see how the gator snapped a trapper's line before he was subdued:
