Chuck Grassley Calls For Independent Secret Service Probe

First Posted: 04/27/2012 8:17 am Updated: 04/28/2012 7:37 am

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A veteran Republican lawmaker says it's time for an inspector general's investigation to find how widespread the problems at the Secret Service are.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, says the nation needs to know whether reports of sexual misbehavior by agents traveling in advance of the president reflect part of the culture of the Secret Service. He says national security and the president's safety could be at risk.

Grassley told CBS' "This Morning" that the Homeland Security Department's inspector general can handle the investigation - so long as that office can maintain its independence from the department and the White House.

Grassley said Friday that officials must be held accountable. As he put it, "You know nothing's changed in Washington if heads don't roll."

Yeah, you're right Chuckie-baby -- but the thing is, where was all your so-called patriotic indignation about "getting to the bottom of the thing" and "rolling heads" during the Bush administration which we know was loaded with illegalities and treachery. Care to comment on that? Oh, no? That's right -- slipped my mind for a moment. You are a part of the group that stands for inequity, different rules for different groups, better known as US Congressional Republicans! Never mind!

For once a good GOP idea.

An independent review will never happen because Pres O. does not want it to. This is but more one scandal in his administration showing that he has very little leadership. He wants the SS stuff behind him. It's becoming clear he will not dismiss his SS Director because the guy and his agents probably have a lot of Obama that he'd rather the taxpayers - and Michelle - not know. The Colombia incident wasnot a one off event. Obama had to know about his SS agents' antics long ago.

Maybe Chuck can form a committee that will shrivel up and die the way all the rest of them do.

I'd rather see an independent probe into voter suppression.

Great. Let's privatize the Secret Service.

The Secret Walmart Police.
11:37 AM on 04/28/2012
Class-wise, they're already Walmart.
04:45 PM on 04/28/2012
But Walmart Secret Service will be paid minimum wage like most Walmart employees.

They would only be able to afford $10 street hookers.

I'd like to know when old Grassley stopped using his position to turn chicks. Oh, he hasn't stopped and should, therefore, get off this Secret Service jones because he could have been bribed too. He makes me sick with his mean and intemperate attitude.

DUH?!...

I think the only thing that happened down there that was bad is the dude tried to shortchange the young lady for services rendered. Maybe he had a shortage that day of a few bucks. If the guy had just called me I would have mailed her the $35 and all this mess would have never happened. Just look at all the taxpayers dollars I could have saved.

If heads didn't roll under Bush, then they won't. Grassley has watched too many episodes of "Boss."

Come on Chuck. You can do better. This is just political bile and piling on in an election year. If this is the best that you can do for governing then you are a pathetic waste for a public servant.
