Bizarre Liquor Flavors

What's the weirdest tasting liquor you've ever downed? Companies across the board are trying out ever-wackier flavors these days, with inspiration running the gamut from sweets (mmm ... cake-flavored vodka) to downright scary creepy crawlers. (Waiter, there's a scorpion in my drink.)

Click through the below gallery to see what we mean.

  • Van Gogh Peanut Butter & Jelly Vodka

We're not sure what to make of the alcohol industry's fascination with flavors from childhood, but here's another for the trend: Peanut butter and jelly-flavored vodka from Van Gogh. HuffPost Food recently did <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/10/peanut-butter-jelly-vodka_n_1415795.html" target="_hplink">a taste test of the product that yielded mixed reactions</a>.

  • Alaska Distillery Smoked Salmon Vodka

Sure, you like smoked salmon on bagels, but on vodka? <a href="http://www.alaskadistillery.com/" target="_hplink">Alaska Distillery</a> is banking on your curiosity winning out.

  • Naked Jay Big Dill Pickle-Flavored Vodka

Ah, a vodka to make Snooki proud. Naked Jay's pickle-flavored vodka sort of takes the joy out of the <a href="http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/16/case-study-got-your-pickleback/" target="_hplink">pickleback shot</a>.

  • Three Olives Bubble Gum Vodka

Too bad you can't blow any bubbles with <a href="http://www.threeolives.com/new/" target="_hplink">Three Olives</a>' bubble gum vodka.

  • Purgatory Hemp Seed Spirits

It might not get you lifted, but Purgatory from <a href="http://www.alaskadistillery.com/" target="_hplink">Alaska Distillery</a> is the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/20/hemp-vodka_n_1439979.html" target="_hplink">first spirit in the U.S. to be made with hemp seeds</a>.

  • Bakon Vodka (Bacon Flavored)

Care for some bacon with your vodka? <a href="http://bakonvodka.com/" target="_hplink">Bakon Vodka</a> has you covered.

  • Pinnacle Vodka Cake Vodka

Why eat cake when you can drink it? At least that's the question the creator of <a href="http://www.pinnaclevodka.com/flavors" target="_hplink">Pinnacle Vodka</a>'s cake flavor must have asked at one point.

  • Skorppio Vodka (Scorpion Flavored)

Don't worry, the creepy crawler lounging at the bottom of your bottle of <a href="http://www.skorppio-vodka.com/" target="_hplink">Skorppio</a> vodka won't hurt you. The poison has been taken out, but the shock value remains.

  • Smirnoff Fluffed Marshmallow Vodka

    <a href="http://www.smirnoff.com/en-us/" target="_hplink">Smirnoff</a> likes dessert-flavored vodkas, too. Marshmallow-flavored vodka, anyone?

  • Pinnacle Vodka Cotton Candy Vodka

    While we're on the subject of Pinnacle's sweet-themed bottles, here's another flavor: <a href="http://www.pinnaclevodka.com/flavors" target="_hplink">Cotton candy.</a>

  • Smirnoff Whipped Cream Vodka

<a href="http://www.smirnoff.com/en-us/" target="_hplink">Smirnoff</a> also offers this whipped cream-flavored variety. Where's the cherry on top?

  • Three Olives Root Beer Vodka

OK, so root beer isn't a totally-off-the-wall flavor, but do we really need it in vodka-form? Three Olives <a href="http://www.threeolives.com/flavor/root-beer&nav=0" target="_hplink">thinks so</a>.

  • Green Geisha Wasabi-Flavored Vodka

Looking for a way to clear your sinuses? Try <a href="http://hardtimesdistillery.com/" target="_hplink">Hard Times Distillery</a>'s Green Geisha wasabi-flavored vodka.

  • Underdog Wine & Spirits Cupcake Frosting Vodka

Why eat a cupcake when you can drink it? At least that's what Underdog Wine & Spirits is wondering. Its <a href="http://www.cupcakevodka.com/delicious-flavors/frosting#" target="_hplink">website</a> describes the product as having "frothy vanillin aromas and flavors that perfectly capture the enticing character of white frosting."

Okay, honestly, the root beer and bubblegum vodka by three olives are brilliant and very smooth. I also support an cake or whipped cream flavored vodkas.

If you want a real storm in your mouth try an Exxon Valdez shot... 1 part salmon vodka mixed with 1 part jagermeister. Yikes! http://bit.ly/OEmoeu

Wow, there are some really strange marketing departments out there. I can understand some of them (never tried any) but Scorpian flavoured?? Who actually ate one to find out what it tastes like?

I've had many of these flavors and they're surprisingly good. The bacon vodka is my personal favorite to be used in a Bloody Mary!

What made you try them in the first place?

Most of these flavors actually mix surprisingly well. For one, the bacon flavored and wasabi flavored vodkas have been the staple of many a bar that I've worked at. Try it with a little bit of tomato juice, sriracha, and chipotle vodka.

Rim the glass with salt and cayenne pepper, or if you prefer less heat, ground red chili.

Brilliant! Make patrons throw up before they even drink it! Then they can drink all they want without getting sick! Genius!

The marshmallow/whipped cream/cake flavored vodkas are good for one thing, however: making killer white russians!

Just reading the various flavors made me want to hurl worse than after a night of serious drinking. I guess I have very pedestrian taste in booze - beer, wine, and once in a blue moon a shot of sour mash is as far as I go.

the salmon vodka is DELICIOUS in bloody mary's. actually, all of alaska distillery vodkas are good.

If you love the salmon vodka, you should check out our Exxon Valdez shot: http://www.urbaninfluence.com/brand-blog/dan/unnatural-disaster

I've tried the whipped cream vodka. It wasn't bad for vodka, and I pretty much despise vodka.

Worst drink I ever had was a banana liquer. Undrinkable. We poured it into a water pipe, because nobody wanted to drink it, and in that function it worked just fine.
05:55 PM on 04/29/2012
Let me guess, you were 15 and stole it from your parents because you thought they wouldn't miss it. And you were right because nobody who hasn't tried it would ever buy it.

I tried the bubble gum vodka once with a 7-up..it was called a 'bubble 0 7'..not great...but drinkable. Give me Blanton's Special Reserve bourbon if money is no object...Maker's Mark for everyday drinking.
