WHA? Pulling $50 million from the award from banks to prevent foreclosures to pay for another private prison? ALEC, are you hiding in the woodpile?

Up in Heaven, JC's head must be spinning ever since He read about Arizona Republicans' peculiar notion of "Christian compassion:"

Take the money earmarked for impoverished victims of Wall Street banking frauds and give it to corporations to build highly profitable private prisons:

"[Brewer's] agreement takes $50 million from a $97.7 million mortgage-settlement fund that Arizona won as part of a multistate lawsuit over fraudulent lending practices. The money is intended for foreclosure prevention and to help reverse the negative effects of the housing collapse that hit Arizona.

The budget agreement taps that $50 million to pay for private-prison contracts to provide an extra 500 maximum-security beds."

The GOP's housing program for America: More private prisons housing more prisoners than any nation on earth.

Nice people them Republicans be.

This is why they are so passionate about protecting unborn fetus.... IT's an un-ending supply of folks to imprison and/or execute.

....and as a (for them) welcome byproduct, they get to declare authority over other people's bodies, what those other people can actually do with their bodies...even when they are all alone, and what the heck, they get to dictate the reproductive future of others.

They don't want much, do they? (snicker)

It is even worse than you say. Many of the states are resurrecting the 19th century practice of renting prisoners to private companies to serve as slave labor. The more prisoners, the more cheap labor.

Perhaps that explains why the U.S. now has imprisoned a higher proportion of our population than any other nation, even China, which is infamous for using prison labor to manufacture cheap exports?

Republicans always look so nasty, pent up and unhappy, with little or no sense of humor; but Brewer wins first prize there, hands down. Gotta love Paul Ryans "Widows Peak" though...he gets honorable mention, for that.

Lets see now, the Attorney Generals of the states get together and fight the banks and get about a $20 billion settlement and customers still have aright to sue. So far so good, the settlement should be for homeowners who got scammed , to provide relief and try to pump up the real estate market which was then and continues to this day to be the drag on the economy.

But wait hold on a minute stop the presses the GOP legislators who came in promising jobs but delivered nothing. So now we have Gov.Scott Walker using the money to prop up his failed policies and cover the budget he supposedly balanced, even with the money he took they still are carrying a deficit , but hidden from some of the public but not all.

Now this one is the most scandalous use of the settlement yet. She is taking $50 million out of the $97 million (Arizona share) and using it to provide funding for private prisons. The Prisons are part of CCA (Correction Corporation of America) brought to you by ALEC, the one who wrote AB1070 nasty immigration law , that the state is defending right now in the SC. So what this really means is layoff off regular guards and pay the least amount of money as you can to someone who may be trained or maybe not . It really doesn't matter since we're talking prisoners here ,right
