The Most Annoyingly Cute Thing Ever

Sometimes, you just need somebody to hold your hand—err, paw.

This beautiful, if slightly neurotic, purebred Siberian husky has developed the "Most Annoyingly Cute" habit of holding her owner's hand while he's driving.

According to the YouTube description, the dog started doing this when she was 9 months old. Her owner believes that she can tell when they're on their way to his parents' house where he leaves his dog for a few hours to go to work. Not being able to bear the impending separation, the husky reaches for a hand to comfort her.

"She truly is the best thing that has happened to my life up till now," the owner writes.

Jezebel notes that the hand-holding is "sweet and very cute, but might get a little tiresome if you were on, say, a road trip."

I live with a Husky.... He is a great guy, smart dog, really smart, but when he gets annoying it is unbearable. The shedding, the whining, can't be separated from anyone or he cries like a emo kid. I could never own one unless I had acres of land for it to roam.

That is a beautiful dog, but seriously please put a doggie seat belt on her, she is very wise to ask you to hold on to her at any speed over about 15 mph..something to consider.

Its more important to drive with both hands on the wheel than to coddle a neurotic dog!!!

It seems like the dog does not like to ride in the car. He seems stressed.

I have an anxious female husky too and she behaves the same way in the car with the soft whining. She loves the car rides and practically demands one everyday...even if it is just down the road.

I have three female dogs we love and they love each other. They are different in their own way.
My German Shepherd lets us know when a stranger is around.
My Pit bull/Lab mix lets me know when there are coyotes, snakes, bears, or deer around.
My Husky...well, she just lets us know when she is slightly uncomfortable.

lol at dogmania001. I want to own another husky someday. They do like to let you know when they are uncomfortable. That is one high maintenance breed! lol (and not just bc they need brushed a lot)

My late cat....... Every single night.. Would wait till I had settled in the bed..... and then climb on my back or on top of me........ It was like the signal that 'You can dream now" she would do the nudge thing to get comfortable.... and then settle in for the night.... I was always aware Not to get up too suddenly when I awoke......

From another Husky Owner.. The expression on your doggie's face looks like it is in pain or extreme excitement. They can have very sensitive hearing. My first guess would be the sound of the vehicle. What does he do when you open the window? Does he hang his head out? (properly tethered to the seat of course) How is he in a pick-up bed? (again properly tethered) Our old husky prefers the truck with the open air. One husky I had years ago would sit in the cab.. (extremely cold weather) and get anxious when it was time to shift (a standard) He would look at me then look at the gear shift and the engine and continue this until I shifted. All the time giving that same whine that yours was doing. I am sure it was the sound the truck was making. In the back he was always happy! When Husky dogs whine they are talking!! If they are barking they are either Very happy or Very upset. We like our old husky... he will be 18 years old in Aug. 2012. He prefers the pickup bed to ride anywhere! He can recognize where he has been and starts whining if it is a place we got out and had lots of fun!

Finally, an explanation that makes sense. The dog could probably use a pressure coat. They're very affordable, this guy should get one. Basic canine psychology/biology.
