Toomsboro, Georgia, Town Of 700, Is Latest Small Town For Sale

An Entire Town Can Now Be Yours!

Buying a small town just keeps getting easier.

A developer who owns most of the Georgia town of Toomsboro is putting his properties up for sale, according to the Associated Press. The town has 700 residents and features a florist, a convenience store, a custom cabinet shop and a post office, making it an ideal fit for a production company seeking a set for a movie or music video. That's according to its owner at least.

Oddly enough, Toomsboro isn't the first small town to be put up for sale in recent months. Don Sammons, the sole resident of Buford, Wyoming, put his house -- and effectively the whole town -- up for sale in March. Then Pham Dinh Nguyen, a Vietnamese businessman, bought the town for $900,000 earlier this month.

Since purchasing Buford, billed as America’s smallest town, Nguyen has become a sensation on Vietnamese media and social networks. He bought the town on his first trip to the U.S. ever, securing himself a small piece of the American Dream.

Don't worry, though, there are still parts of the American Dream up for sale elsewhere. In Pray, Montana, Barbara Walker, who owns the small collection of buildings that make up the town, put them up for sale for $1.4 million in February, according to the Billings Gazette. Walker decided to sell the town after the deaths of her husband and father-in-law and years trying to revitalize the city.

It's not just no-name small towns that are going up for sale, however. Super fans can buy Henry River Mill Village, where scenes from the blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games were filmed, for $1.4 million, according to the Guardian. The town's owner, Wade Shepherd, said he’s just getting "too many visitors" thanks to the movies' notoriety.

Selling small towns isn't unique to the U.S. In France, the village of Courbefy went up for sale in February for the relatively low price of $436,370 and in Italy, the region of Abruzzo went up for sale last April.
