Chewed-Up Pen Found In Ground Beef (Mealbreakers)

Mealbreaker (n.): a nasty, non-edible surprise found in food while it is being eaten; often lawsuit-provoking, sometimes fabricated, always disgusting.

Ground beef has been recalled in the past for a variety of reasons -- largely due to contamination of some sort, such as e. coli. A "chewed-up pen" is not typically one of those reasons, but that's just what was found in the ground beef at Raley’s Supermarket in Antioch, California. A worker discovered a piece of the pen while cleaning the meat grinder. Some of the meat from that grinder was likely already for sale.
