Herman Cain Endorses George LeMieux For Florida Senate

Herman Cain Makes His Second Endorsement For The Same Senate Race

Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain is endorsing former Sen. George LeMieux (R-Fla.) in Florida's U.S. Senate race.

Cain made the endorsement Friday at the Hernando County Lincoln Day Dinner, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

"This is the type of person that we need in Washington, DC," Cain said. "People who are not afraid to challenge the establishment, people who are there to represent the people and not represent politics, people who understand that it’s time that we stop shuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic and start solving stuff."

This is Cain's second endorsement in the race. In January, he announced his support for businessman Craig Miller, who later dropped out of the race.

Miller had agreed to support Cain's "9-9-9" tax plan, but an aide for LeMieux told The Hill that he hadn't made a similar promise.

LeMieux formerly worked with more moderate former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R), but has since tried to distance himself, saying he was "disappointed" in Crist. Polls show him trailing rival Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.), who also just picked up an endorsement from a former presidential candidate - Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).
