Metric recently released "Youth Without Youth," their first track since 2009. In a commentary track about the song, frontwoman Emily Haines and guitarist James Shaw categorize it as 70s sleaze, ultimately a genre used to "disguise any kind of political statement -- or morose sadness."
"We wanted to express some sort of anger or resentment," Shaw said. "And sort of the feeling of being pissed of because you don't get to experience the youth that maybe you were entitled to."
"You Without Youth" will appear on their upcoming album Synthetica, due out June 12.
