The striker who scored the first goal in the history of the Seattle Sounders opened up his 2012 account with a beautiful 35-yard shot that could very well turn up on any MLS season-in-review highlight packages.
After going scoreless through the first six matches of the season, Fredy Montero found the net during the second half of the Sounders' match against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday. the 24-year-old forward lined the torrid, perfectly-aimed strike to the far corner of the net. Much to the delight of the 39,000 in attendance, the shot gave Seattle a 2-0 lead, and ultimately a victory for the club over the Los Angeles.
The win was the Sounders' first league win against L.A. since August 15, 2009.
