Happy Cinco De Mayo! If you'd like to expand your cultural horizons with more than just queso and margaritas, check out these lovely crafts that are an intergal component of Mexican culture.

Paola Gonzalez, a Mexican-based photographer, scoured homes and markets, taking pictures of memorabilia made for holidays such as Christmas and quinceañeras. She found chicks with feathers dyed in deep pink and blue hues, rhinestoned dolls donning tiaras and matchboxes dressed up with Christian motifs.

According to the publisher, the book "is an uninhibited celebration of the Mexican taste for kitsch, in which every holiday and every rite of passage from birth to death provides the opportunity to indulge."
