Georgia Family Evicted At Gunpoint During 3 A.M. Foreclosure Raid

Foreclosure

AlterNet:

Four generations of a Georgia family were evicted at gunpoint by dozens of sheriffs and deputies at 3am last week in an Atlanta suburb. The eyebrow-raising eviction, a foreclosure action, might have been another anonymous descent into poverty were it not for Occupy Atlanta activists who tried to help the family stay in Christine Frazer’s home of 18 years.

Funny how a bank's mistake or the government mistake, is okay and no penalties are involved on those who did the wrong action. However, if a person makes a paperwork mistake on a bank's loan application or a tax return, they are considered a criminal and criminal charges are brought against the person.

Thats the way it has to be done if the landlord cant get the non paying tennats out of his building quickly and inexpensivly then how do you think that the lanlord can raise the money to pay the mortgage and pay the property taxes that pay the police's paychecks..and the fireman, and all the teachers..next time you have a glass of water in the city hall or flush the toilet in the city court house just remember that your children and your very privelidged behinds are sitting of the property owning taxpayers toilet seats and the water your flushing down the drain was paid for by the city landlords...Nothing is paid for by the non paying tennants nothing..

When there's a profit to be made most everyone is treated like a black person gets treated every day in this country. Greed is color blind, the only color it sees is green.

Their is affordable housing you just have to find it, it is called the doublewide or mobile home industry, been there done that. Saved my nickels and dimes and no longer live in that life style which there is nothing wrong with it!! It is really called having a affordable roof over your head and running water, heat, and nobody else pays for it. Just who ever lives there from fruits of they're labor!

So according to that guy's sign 99% of Americans don't live in affordable housing? I'm nowhere near the 1% but I've been in my co-op for the last two years with no complaint whatsoever. I guess "99%" is just poetic license. So much for credibility.

Election season. If mentioned at all, "income inequality" is to be a feel-good, campaign talking point--not, gods forbid, uncomfortable, painful reality.

Amazingly - if you don't pay the mortgage you are evicted - and the police always do it because of the potential for violence.
08:09 AM on 05/07/2012
Go rednecks! This is what we agre trying to tell the rest of the country! The police are servants of the 1%! Also....that the red states dental condition makes the UK look like a hollywood premiere!

You must have missed the news..when the Obama administration settled with the banks for $280 mil in fines, the banks started to release their portfolio of 12 million homes in foreclosure. Yes, 12 million homes that were in one stage or another of foreclosure..the primary reason they were held back and now released is because the news like this family is sharing..horrible news..is another political ploy by the Obama administration to hide the debt the Feds incurred while insuring these mortgages. The CBO estimates an additional 5 trillion. Yes, the majority of these mortgages are backed by Fannie and Freddie.
It's election year...this isn't the 1% as you would like us to believe..it's Barney Frank, Barack Obama taking another 5 trillion of your money and another 12 million homes from your friends. Get real..stop shouting their baloney.

That's not just in Georgia, it's a nationwide problem. Southern sheriffs just have more colorful role models to inform their personae. Buford T. Justice springs to mind, but they're usually more like Roscoe P. Coltrane with unresolved anger issues...

If you are in my home at 3am when you shouldn't be (which is the case here) then you'll be forced out at gunpoint.

CNN reported that this family ignored FOUR eviction notices and four seperate vacate-by notices.

They were actually squatting in a home that did not belong to them.

They were asked nicely to leave
Asked nicely again
Asked nicely again
Finally told to leave
Then - finally - MADE to leave.

Self-inflicted wound on their part.
04:23 AM on 05/07/2012
" However, the latest holder of her loan, Investors One Corporation—the fourth company that bought her mortgage in an eight-month period—allowed the eviction to proceed even thought it was "negotiating" new loan terms with her attorney one day before the police raid."
But even if you were right, why at 3 am? and with weapons? they knew exactly that three women were living in the house, a 63 year old, her mother who is 85 plus, her daughter with a toddler. Did they really need to raid the house like the women and the toddler were some kind of terrorists with a dozen squad cars? Do you really think it is ok in a supposedly civilized country?

Yep - a local family had the same thing happen. They were warned over and over. And still took not a single thing out of the home. Then cried non-stop on facebook about the heirlooms and sentimental things destroyed in the eviction. I'd have at least taken the family photos etc out of the house

Police intelligence, like military intelligence, is usually an oxymoron, especially in GA, MS, AL, LA, TX, and AZ . . . even though my son was in intelligence in the Marines, before he was in Special Ops.

This story kills me., It means the pat on the wrist $25 billion dollar punitive damage punishment is more than laughable. The Banks have no intention of auditing their Ponzi Remic Trusts. Why should they? When they can evict little old ladies, and continue selling insurance policies and derivitives long since paid for by this generation's children's future
Let's hear it for these little old Ladies evicted in the middle of the night at gunpoint by Sherrifs, what cowards are Government has become. They can evict little old ladies at gunpoint but heaven forbid the SEC has to stand up to BOFA or Wells Fargo. Wow, Lets hear it for these Sherriffs. How much you make for this one? This is the United States of America. What Disgusting cowards this country has become
