Awkward Wedding Photos: 15 Cringe-Worthy Stock Wedding Photos

We all laughed when The Hairpin published "Women Laughing Alone With Salad." There's something so hilariously terrible about so many stock photos, we can't help but chuckle.

While the unintentional comedy of stock photography is unparalleled, there's one photo category in particular that's worse than most: stock wedding photos. While there are plenty of gorgeous ones available (we use 'em!) the 15 we've rounded up here definitely didn't make our front page. In fact, they make us a little uncomfortable.

  Some say they're "over the moon" for their spouse-to-be, but this groom is over the fence.

  This stock photo groom doesn't seem to recognize his bride.

  Here's one way to get your bride to the chapel.

• Pick A Bride

  How many brides does one groom need?

• Wedding Night Photoshoot

  Does this happen?

• Cutting The Cake

  Wedding cakes are huge, we get it, but this seems excessive.

• She's Just Not That Into You

  She's looking off into the distance and not paying attention to the kiss. Something tells us this relationship (if it were real) wouldn't turn out well.

• Strike A Pose

  This is a photo that they'll definitely want to frame.

• Bombs Away!

  This is one unique way to spend your wedding day.

This sight has too much flash for the iPad--unless you use the iPad version, forget trying to navigate with an iPhone or iPad.

This slideshow made me realize two things:

1) Some women are really cute in top hats, and
2) As much as the idea of marriage appeals to me, the wedding planning and ceremony does not. I don't understand why we purposely strain our relationships with months of stress culminating in a superficial pageant.

I liked #25 the best. Here are the runners up:

#17: Cute. The animals balance everything else in the photo.
#34: How did they end up in that position? And what is the ambulance crew waiting for?
#56: Nice color scheme. I didn't know hot plasma was that color, I thought it was white.

The first photo just seems like some ugly guy's fantasy. I remember once being at a playground in Brooklyn many years ago when a limo pulled up with a Hasidic wedding party. The groom had his picture taken shooting baskets while the poor bride was made to pose looking admiringly at him while he missed basket after basket. I sometimes wonder what happened to her.
