Election 2012: Apathy Factor In Presidential Politics Has Seemingly Never Been Higher

Rolling Stone:

I was channel-surfing the other day, looking for something genuinely interesting on television, like maybe a repeat of the Big Ten Network's Diamond Report or video of a wrecked Nazi tugboat, when my fingers got stuck on a news channel. There, lighting up an NBC broadcast with her smile, was New Hampshire's Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte, talking about her Vice Presidential qualifications ...

Who? That was my first question, but then my second obstacle was the sudden recollection that we were in an election year. I'd actually forgotten this was the case. Four years ago at this time, that would never have happened – we were in the middle of one of the most witheringly nasty primary fights ever, with people very nearly coming to blows depending on where you stood in the Hillary-Barack battle.

Its funny the number one narrative i am seeing is the republicans attack on women...Granted this is a point of contention a lot of people have with the GOP and the conservatives...but this has been historically their stance and many have just laughed it off as typical...i am wondering why now? why such fever over this? its a perfect storm from the Obamabottics system to whack down the GOP hard.. its real brilliant..think tanks in full swing...whats the emotional issue we can prop up that will cause a psychological distraction and method of leading these ignorant mass's around by the nose? yes we protect women its instinctual for many good people....how to exploit that is masterful!

I don't think you have adequately evaluated the REAL war on women. I am no youngster, but ai can't remember the last time anybody thought to try to restrict contraceptives for women, and that is just part of it. Yes, they've been fighting Planned Parenthood and abortion for a long time, but never with such extreme tactics as trying to gie a fertilized egg constitutional rights above those of the woman in which it sits.

I don't disagree...what i am saying is this amplification of it seems to be planed..think about it suppose both parties in "Washington" are actually on the same team..and we are the enemy.. good cop bad cop.."Ok this time its your turn to be bad cop" so the pendulum swings back to the right they switch turns..and also help eachother play the parts...we get duped again...and so it goes

The proles have an illusion of say so by a facade of elections. This keeps then docile and compliant worker drones to the system.....the dance of candidates in the theater of the bizarre to pic who will be the better oligarchy salesman..who has what it takes to blow smoke up the rears of the American people with feel good teddy bear rhetoric that now works so well to lull them into subservience? Who will be the figurehead of the MIC matrix?

Its no wonder we dont care anymore..its all BS and many of us know it...we also know that we cant do a thing about it because the brain washing is advanced effective and Infecting far too many now.. people chose the matrix now Knowingly for the illusion of safety and to join in on the exploitation of others as a willing programed bot.

Whereas Newt is the only person alive who balanced the federal budget, cutting almost a half-trillion from the debt.. Of these three, which candidate do you think is better for the future of the country? That's why I'm pushing for a Newtonian revolution.

===========

Right... it was Newt, and Newt alone, who balanced the budget.

J.e.ebus, Flopsy, you're smarter than this.

No, he really isn't. Take a look at his comments, and you will see a history of delusional support for Gingrich.

It's ridiculous for any politician to take credit for the economic boom caused by the birth of internet commerce. As long as they didn't stand directly in the way of development, it wouldn't have mattered who was in office during that time...They would have seen a HUGE increase in revenue.

Most IMPORTANT election in decades:
The Supreme Court as an institution of universal freedom is on the block.
The current Supreme "Corp" is NOT for the citizens, and we know it.
Stay vigilant.
Do not let ANYONE tell you this is not important.
Do you want to live in a corpocracy, or a democracy?
THAT IS A HUGE QUESTION?
AND IT IS PARAMOUNT!

Wake up..yes reality is harsh. Do you really prefer the gilded cage? if so admit it! admit your a willing serf and continue to pay and obey...Stop pretending your free its annoying!

I don't find this election boring at all. In fact, it scares me like no other in my 60+ years. The Republicans/reactionary/conservatives are on the threshold of consolidating their tyrannical powers in ways that have not been seen since the industrial revolution. Women, who with Roe v. Wade began to achieve true self determination, risk being subdued once again and forced to endure lives of biological slavery and servility. No, this isn't a boring election, and anyone who is isn't paying attention.

Totally agree. I remember well the 60's and 70's. This is the most important election in our lifetime. F&F

I believe that the supposed enthusiasm gap perceived by the media at this time is just an illusion that they are using in order to fill time. The conventions will give the media a lot to feed on during the summer. Not everyone is a political junkie and most folks are not paying a lot of attention at this point because they have actual lives to attend. We are still six months from the election. Let the electorate/families get past graduations, proms, summer vacations and the start of another school year and then their attention will turn more towards the election.

The facade of elections and "polite" social and business structures hides the underbelly of corruption. It is not just corruption of the business of government..its the corruption of Men's souls for the conduction of modern "business"..that business is the ongoing manipulation control and management of people as resource..Its all done with your consent.. its all done with your help, its all done with your ignorance,,, they parasite off of all of us..keep us divided along party lines wile the machinations remain the same right of left.. the president is the Oligarchy salesmen you are the unsuspecting marks.

Americans voting choice....do you want to be punched in the groin or kicked in it.

Both parties could have done much better in fielding candidates. Bascially, what we have will be voters 'picking their poison' in November.

This election IS NOT boring!

This election is VERY IMPORTANT to Women's Reproductive rights, to Middle Class Working

Americans, to Seniors who will lose Medicare and see cuts to their Social Security and to

college Students who will see the elimination of federal student loans if Romney gets his way.

"If you need money to go to school, just ask your parents for a loan" is the Willard "$374,000

Isn't Very Much Money" Romney.

Help GET OUT the VOTE!

YES! VOTE & Take back the House 2012 or this GOP obstructionism will continue & nothing GOOD will be able to get done. People may seem bored because the GOP/TP is either voting NO, tabling bills so they can't be voted on, or giving us the most VAGUE plans of how they plan to help our Nation!
I am Disgusted, but not bored because NOW is the time to keep telling the GOP/TP that they have given us NOthing but indigestion. Call Wash.DC House & Senate switchboards, ask to speak to whomever you want to leave a message with & let them now how you feel.

It may seem a bit early, but there is something we can do now that will make a huge difference: Contact your local Democratic organization and volunteer to help with voter registration.

If you volunteer to knock on doors, they will provide you with a roster of registered Dems to call on, all within walking distance of your home (assuming you don't live in the boonies). It's a great way to meet your Dem neighbors.

They will train you and give you the materials and locations, so that you can help voters make sure there are no problems with their voter registration. Additionally, you can make sure that they are set up with an absentee ballot, in case they don't have a photo ID or they can't get Election Day off from work.

In this way, we can offset the effects of the Republicans’ voter suppression initiatives.
