WASHINGTON -- The Small Mammal House at the Smithsonian's National Zoo marked its 75th birthday on Tuesday.

Home to a variety of rodents, insectivores, bats, carnivores and primates, the Small Mammal House is consistently full of children getting grossed out by the naked mole rat.

It's a been a busy few weeks for the zoo. In addition to 75th birthday, they've been using science to make love, are about to reveal 11 new Asian small-clawed otters on Thursday and just announced the ZooFari fundraiser, featuring over 100 area restaurants.

The National Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m., buildings close at 6 p.m. and the grounds close at 8 p.m.
