Undewater Mosque
Mosque is built under water in Saudi Arabia

The First underwater mosque is ready for prayers in the Saudi Arabian town of Tabuk, according to Emirates24/7.com.

“When we put the final touches on it, it was time for afternoon prayers," said diver Hamadan bin Salim Al Masoudi, "so we performed group prayers in the first underwater mosque in history.”

A private group of Saudi Arabian divers built the mosque using plastic pipes filled with sand under the sea close to the border with Jordan, explains Arabian Business.

The mosque is the latest of underwater construction in the Arabian Peninsula which extends to underwater hotels.

Visiting this mosque and Mecca are on my bucket list. This is awesome, one day it will be me, in scuba gear, deep diving to a mosque. What a thrill! Mecca is another place on the list, one day.

“When we put the final touches on it, it was time for afternoon prayers," said diver Hamadan bin Salim Al Masoudi, "so we performed group prayers in the first underwater mosque in history.”------- proves at least one thing for sure that the Saudian beliefs are taking a new turn , after their Grand Muftis recommendation of destroying all churces, that his followers beliefs have gone under the MURKY WATERS ----- FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM SAKE THEY CANNOT PRAY PROPERLY OVER THE GROUND NOW THEY HAVE TO FIND PLACES TO PRAY UNDER THE GROUND OR UNDER THE SEA -------- So God now help the Saudians to take their faith to higher levels rather then under the murky waters.

Why you have to get wet under water, when the prayers keep you DRY and WELL.

If they really had faith, they wouldn't bother with the tanks but just breathe like fishes

May be they want to teach their faith to FISHES. Another kind of PREACHING UNDER WATER FOR THE under water CREATIONs OF GOD, to follow these diver faithfuls.

Yes it's open for women. But just try to do your underwater prayers while carrying oxygen bottles, flippers and a niqab. :)

Their women could not go under water with them, because the women follow the head to toe VEIL, that protects them from other evils and preventing from getting wet under water. God knows best.

What a wonderful point of view! This mosque can also be seen as a very creative affirmation of the belief that it is appropriate to worship and praise God anywhere and everywhere.

BUt for their prayers getting ablution with water is prescribed for sure, but not getting WET and submerge in water is a new.

LET us see what their Grand Mufti has to say on these prayers as the Qibla they face is over the Ground and under the ground where and what will they face. Determination of Qibla and then facing upward would be the only way to comply with the injunction to face Qibla for the offering of the prayers under water. Just to be newsworthy some people will do anything like going under murky waters and built a mosque, but forget the GUIDANCE AND REGULATIONS IN THE MATTER OF PRAYERS.

There is an oriental poet who rightly said --- the faithfuls built a mosque overnight but sad, the mosque is lamenting they are there but faithfuls have abandoned them.

If only all cults.. I mean worshipers would build their churches/temples/mosques underwater.

Like every other religious tradition, ritual, rite, and practice throughout the world, this makes perfect sense.
