Venice Beach Zip Line: Will We Be Able To Zip Across The Beach This Summer?

Will We Be Able To Zipline Across Venice Beach This Summer?

Venice Beach may soon be rivaling the Santa Monica Pier in attractions.

Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl is hoping to move forward on a proposed Venice zip line in order to help generate revenue this summer, reports Venice Patch. The zip line will be organized by Greenheart/Flightlinez in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles.

"They say you fly like a bird," said Rosendahl to Venice Patch. "It's a simple enough concept and easy enough to put on."

The proposal states that the zip line would run for 750 ft. between two towers off Windward plaza. The launch tower would be approximately 50 ft. tall while the landing tower would be just 24 ft. tall. The launch platforms would also feature work by local artists.

The rides will cost at least $20 and will last for under a minute, according to Yo! Venice!. Camps and other activity groups would also be able to use the zip line.

The zip line would be ready for use this summer if approved at the May 15th meeting.
