Kobe Bryant's 'Sweaty' Face Mask Brings In $67,100 To Fight Youth Homelessness

Kobe Bryant turned his All-Star nose-break into an All-Star charity opportunity.

Bryant suffered his first career concussion and broke his nose during the NBA All-Star game in February after a hard foul from Dwyane Wade. After signing it and putting it up for charity, the mask raked in $67,100, all of which will benefit the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation and its Los Angeles youth homelessness initiative, abclocal.go.com reports.

The athlete told ESPN in March that the mask felt like a sauna, joking initially about putting it up for auction to "see if anybody's dumb enough to buy that sweaty mask."

After 129 bids and nearly $70,000, he might want to retract that now.

The Bryants started the foundation in 2011, and at a press conference announcing the organization, Kobe said that youth homelessness figures in Los Angeles -- citing that between 7,000 and 10,000 of L.A.'s homeless are under the age of 24 -- "shocked the hell out of me", admitting that as a father of two, the problem just "hits home more."
