Mark Zuckerberg's Hoodie Called 'Immature' By Analyst: What Do You Think? (VIDEO)

Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 05/09/2012 3:32 pm

Mark Zuckerberg Hoodie
Mark Zuckerberg in full hoodie mode.

Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Securities, doesn't like Mark Zuckerberg in a hoodie.

When asked on Bloomberg how he sees Zuckerberg as a risk, Patcher responded, "Mark and his signature hoodie? I mean, he's actually showing investors he doesn't care that much, he's going to be him, and he's gonna do what he's always done, and I think that's a mark of immaturity."

Though it isn't as if Zuckerberg's entire wardrobe consists of blue or black hoodies. He wore jeans and a tie when he met United States President Barack Obama. He even managed to pull together a full suit for last year's Tech Titans dinner at the White House and when he met former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Poorly dressed or not, no matter what opinion may be held of Zuckerberg's style, Pachter still had some praise for the young CEO.

Patcher, when asked if Zukerberg could also be Facebook's biggest asset as well as its biggest risk, replied "He most certainly is a genius, and he really has done something that no one else can do."

But he continued, "I'm not sure he's the right guy to run a corporation and have to answer to shareholders. If he does that well, then the stock is going to work fantastically well, if he doesn't its going to stall."

Does Zuckerberg care what Michael Pachter thinks about his hoodie? Doubtful. After all, the man stands to make at least $846 million when Facebook goes public. He can buy and wear as many hoodies as he likes.

What do you think of Pachter's comments on Zuckerberg's hoodie wearing ways? Is it a sign of immaturity? Should potential investors be scared away by a piece of clothing? Should Wall Street be worrying about things other than Mark Zuckerberg's hoodie? Give us a shout at @huffposttech on Twitter and we'll add your response to the slide show below.

First of all Zuker is still a kid no matter what he does. The hoodie can be expected and eventually he will grow up.

...or maybe he just likes hoodies. The "masters of the universe" on wall street all wore expensive suits and ties and were still running their ponzi schemes crashing the economy and ruining peoples lives in the process and they didn't care about investors as they called their clients & products they were peddling all sorts of derogatory names.

So what does clothes or hoddies matter.

Tell Pachter to not attend the roadshow meetings if he doesn't like the way Zuck dresses. Oh wait, he wasn't invited? If his criteria for investing in the company is Zuckerberg wearing a hoodie during the roadshow, or if it really bothers him, I won't put my money with Pachter, because he is showing himself to be immature.

I once had a Hawaiian shirt on during a dress down day, and I got a call that a management team wanted to meet with me for a one on one roadshow meeting for a junk bond deal they were doing. In spite of the Hawaiian shirt, they still took my money.

So if you dont follow the societies norms - you're immature. While dressing up may get you respect - dressing down doesn't hinder your intelligence.

Had Zuck not followed and done things his way and followed his own path - would he successful today? I dont think so. Trailblazers are men (or women) who comform but following their own path (in everything).

Keep doing what you are doing Zuck. Traditional business models are going out the window and so should ideas that we need to be a certain way to do certain things.

The money men forced Steve Jobs out of Apple for several years and almost ran the company in to the ground. Seems like they never learn.

Analysts wear suits and look where that has taken the U.S. economy. Who cares what FB dude wears? He is a billionaire he can wear whatever he wants. Jeeebus.

Yeah - these analysts really know of what they speak...an analyst reviewed a business plan of mine some years ago and I, accidentally, got the review. It was the most innane, sophomoric, irrelevant bunch of words that the head investor, when she found out I had read it, called to apologize for him.

I'm not a huge fan of Zuckerberg's. And why FaceBook going public I'm not sure, except that the executives want to cash some of it out. The investment community is beholden to FaceBook and they don't know how to handle it.

Some guy in the 18th century probably decided to go to an important meeting without a powdered wig and was accused to being immature, too.

Does that analyst get his "information" from any source other than Geraldo "don't wear hoodies" Rivera?

This comment from a guy in a pinstripe suit, white collared dress shirt and a muted tie. Zuck has his uniform and you have yours Mr. Pachter.
07:30 PM on 05/10/2012
No, he has it all wrong. Unfortunately, the only thing Zuckerberg wearing a hoodie is doing is perpetuating the stereotype that hoodie wearers are untrustworthy thieves.
06:22 PM on 05/10/2012
The world is changing. A tie doesn't mean success, and a hoodie doesn't mean slacker. I have hope for future generations, because of their willingness to think outside the box, and not conform to the discourse created by past generations.
