Foul Ball Beer
A fan catches a foul ball in his beer during the Padres game on Tuesday night.

It looks like it's shaping up to be an eventful season already, Padres fans! Rejoice, because the stands are looking to be full of exciting foul ball opportunities in San Diego.

After last week's amazing one-handed catch by David West, a Padres fan with a broken arm, Tuesday night's contest against the Rockies offered up yet another unusual foul ball catch. Well, sort of.

This time, Padres right fielder Will Venable smacked a ball across the third-base line and into the stands, bouncing into one surprised fan's beer. The fan was quick to raise his arms and show off his suds, thereby giving new meaning to the phrase 'souvenir cup.'

Both Padres announcers had fun with the spectacle, as did the fan, who chugged his drink in victory of his valiant catch while en route to a Padres win at the ballpark; 3-1.

CORRECTION: The headline of an earlier version of this story incorrectly cited that the Padres lost to the Rockies.

This is nothing...i had a season ticket package at the house that Ruth built in 2000 so on the days i didn't go i watched very closely. I remember seeing on the local news some dude in the bleachers caught a game winning walk of home run right in his beer cup...not from a bounce off the seats...but straight off the bat. He was hangin over the edge pretty good, his beer went everywhere...the stadium went ape crazy...it was perfect!

If the Pads could only mount a defense as spirited as that catch.
