Great quote from the article -

"You've got a Republican Party that is having difficulty facing up to the fact that if you look at what happened during the first 8 years of the century, it was under Republican direction."

George W. Bush started two wars while cutting taxes, added an unfunded prescription drug mandate, and ran up the deficit, but today's GOP leaders can't reconcile that history with their agenda today, Hagel noted.

"The Republican Party is dealing with this schizophrenia. It was the Republican leadership that got us into this mess," he said.

Although Chuck Hagel is a decent Reagan moderate, he only won in '98 because he owned ES&S electronic voting machines and pulled out the biggest margin of victory in Nebraska history with 80% of the vote in a state that hadn't voted Republican for senator in 40 years.

Seriously. Like this toad was a great man..he was a tool who followed his orders and was pretty much sunk into senility after the shooting. A pretty face to sell lies like welfare queens in their caddilacs and kilos of crack straight from the evidence room..er..bought within blocks of the White House.

They shifted to the right when they realized that a person like President Obama can actually win the presidential election. Once that fact dawned on them they realized the country is becoming way too tolerant and equal. Of course that's totally against the new right's agenda. Therefore we've been seeing everything from race, to religion, to nationality become total "left/right" issues. The only time the Republican Party has been on the correct side of history was over 200 years ago. If this were a professional sport the heads of a team with such a bad record would have been ousted along time ago.

The Republicans of today not only hate government, they hate Democracy and would do away with that too if they had the chance.
If at some point they are not soundly defeated, if not virtually destroyed, then Democracy has utterly failed in favor of assiininity, self-righteousness, jingoism, false patriotism and low informationism.

We hate Big nanny state gov..libs can't seem to tell the difference, or think for themselves without it, or get enough of it. Reagan : Most feared words......"We're from the government..and we're hear to help!" ..in other words..RUN the OTHER Way. Reagan would be on the forefront against big Gov nanny state Libs. Hagel is a typical RINO

Oh really, that's why he rasied taxes no less then 8 times, to fund BIGGER government? His trickle down theory created the mess we are in today - not to mention the fact he helped establish the military industrial machine that now has us spending more money on defense (if you call it that) that ALL other nations combined.

LIBERAL and proud of it, you use that word like it hurts our feelings, I'm glad to break this to you, it doesn't.

That is so true!!! Last night on BIll Maher, odd man, Grover Norquist, could not stop talking about Reagan, it was so yesterday and he acts like Reagan was so conservative. Not today - he would not fit into this teabag GOP - he would disown them because he was a decent man who cared about his country!!!! Just shows how Norquist and all the other Repubs that the party bows down to - are so wrong on everything. They are stuck in yesteryear!!! They must wake up every day and think they will see Reagan on the screen instead of Mittens. HA!!!! Jokes on you, GOP!!! HA

Chuck, a lot of us old time former Eisenhower Republicans would not have related to _Reagan, either, so you can see the depth of our disappointment in how this once great party has devolved.

The Republican Party no longer exists. It's become the Conservative Party; a group of ideologues and pro-corporate people who had even given President Lincoln a headache.

True. I hung on far longer than I should've. I left in 2000 finally, when it became obvious that the entire party had become nothing more than a crazed gang of thugs and mor ons...

"The USA will move so far to the right you won't recognize it" - Ed Meese, former US Atty Gen for, and career-long confidante to Ronald Reagan, the president who mainstreamed fascism in America.

We are living through times now that were designed with intention by those who used the far right as ground troops in their looting of America's prosperity.

Nostalgia is a disease of the aged...

i have to wonder what this country would look like right now if a couple of the nations top CSI teams had been given a week at the WTC site before all the evidence was hauled away.
Dang that was a fast cleanup.

The National Inquire of Politics the GOP!

Hard to believe a right wing Tea Party wing of the Republicans while spewing a constant flow of Reaganism just damaging the very same ideals from the one the like to quote, even Sarah Palin likes to express her devotion to Ronald Reagan and them begins to turn his whole ideas into a right wing hate factory. Reagan believed in reaching across the isle in congress and the senate and taking good with the bad a trying to find middle ground. The modern day Tea Party and Republicans while never gain back that respect from the Democrats or the general population in today's politics those days are gone, and the Republican Party is at the bottom of the popularity scale at it's lowest peak, no doubt Reagan would not approve of where the GOP party is heading. This can be blamed only on the people responsible for creating the monster named the Tea Party because this movement morphed not the way it was originally motivated for, but turned into a vicious none compromised right wing hate group!
