Rachel Felder Curates Joey Ramone Collection At John Varvatos Titled, "I Remember You" (PHOTOS)

Remembering Joey Ramone Through Photos

"I Remember You," a new exhibition of never-before-seen photographs at John Varvatos in New York, shows a few sides of the brooding singer/songwriter known as Joey Ramone. The frontman of one of the most influential punk bands in history passed away from Lymphoma over a decade ago, but his legacy lives on in this new photography series, curated by his friend Rachel Felder and made available by Rock Paper Photo. It is perhaps fitting and a little bit sad that this exhibition takes place in a John Varvatos store that was once the location of CBGB, the legendary club that hosted numerous punk and alternative bands from its inception in 1973 to its closing in 2006.

Felder told Rock Paper Photo, "To me, Joey was -- as sappy as this might sound -- truly beautiful." She continued, "I've tried to choose photos of him that really reflect that, as opposed to the iconic images that have been more widely seen." Some of the proceeds from the exhibit will go to the Joey Ramone Lymphoma Foundation, so Ramones fans have more than one reason to support the work on display.

"I Remember You" is on view at the John Varvatos store in New York and online through the end of the month.
