The "shop small" trend has officially carried over from the holiday season, as two-thirds of U.S. shoppers will look to boutiques and small retailers for Mother's Day gifts, according to a survey from FedEx.

The National Retail Federation predicts that Mother's Day spending will reach $18.6 billion this year, making it the biggest shopping holiday after Christmas and a big sales opportunity for small businesses.
