Steve Martin
Steve Martin was among the SNL alums of the boomer generation who have gone on to interesting things.

In honor of next week's Saturday Night Live season finale, we were inspired to check up on a few of our favorite post 50 SNL alums -- the stars baby boomers remember from the early days of the show -- to some interesting results (remember when Senator Al Franken was on the show?).

Check out the slideshow below to see what they've been up to:

It amazes me how many carrers have been launched by SNL. It also amzes me, how many SNL skits have been turned into movies. Hartman, Belishi, Ferril, Murhy, Wigman among favorites. Chevy chase left show a little to early.

This is a coincidence. It was just last night that I played the video of Gilda Radner Live. She was always my favorite although Jane Curtain was at the top too. Although Gilda was very young when she succumbed to cancer, she lives on as one of the funniest of the SLN team.

Will Ferrell was disgusting on SNL last night. I had to change the channel. No reply's please, just my opinion. And my remote.

I have to give a nod to the late Phil Hartman. He was one funny guy. RIP, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer!

I don't recall seeing SNL during the 50's or 60's?

It was not on until mid 1970's. I want to say 1975.

Tonight is NOT the season finale of SNL. Next week is. Tonight's host is Will Ferrell, next week's host (and musical guest) is Mick Jagger.

Just went thru all 14 images and wow--what a trip! They were, and still are "the talent"!
