WASHINGTON -- The chairman of the Senate committee with jurisdiction over homeland security says he's scheduled a hearing for May 23 to review the Secret Service investigation of the Colombia prostitution scandal.

Sen. Joe Lieberman tells CNN's "State of the Union" that he believes the agency has done a thorough job in investigating the incident. But the Connecticut independent also wants to know whether there were warning signs about agents' behavior.

He also wants to hear what steps are being taken to ensure something similar doesn't happen again.

Lieberman says the Secret Service director, Mark Sullivan, will be called to the hearing by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

The Dems should have kicked Lieberman's turncðat bûtt to the curb instead of giving him an important chairmanship.

November can't come soon enough...

How needs a hearing . Just pick up the phone and tell them. Fire everyone involed . Then make it clear any actions like this will cause immediate termination.

The DHS has been without a truly independent Inspector General for over one year. An Acting Inspector General, who has not been nominated by the President nor confirmed by the Senate, does not have the clout or the political resources to assure that scandals of this magnitude will not happen again. This is especially the case when, as here, the investigatory division of the DHS IG's offices is itself in the midst of a criminal investigation. The committee has before it a highly qualified nominee in Roslyn A. Mazer, who has the management and investigative experience to get the DHS IG's office in order. Only after George Washington invested General Von Steuben with full authority was he able to train and mobilize the continental army into a force competent to take on the British Army. He did so through a combination of micro-management (drill instruction) and leadership that brought organization and discipline to a rag-tag operation. Unless the current nominee is confirmed, the IG will be left in limbo for at least another year.

After this prostitution scandal I thought they were going to change their name to the Secrete Service. "We're here to protect the President so drop to your knees. You know the rest! What? I actually have to pay for this? I thought this was one of the perks of the job. Do you take Americano Express? You know, that card with the rate of exchange where you think you're getting $800 but it actually works out to only $30." Our federal government at work. Hey, at least it wasn't Americans that were getting screwed this time!

No doubt that this is the very first and only time that members of the Secret Service ever played around, and no doubt that it will stop and never happen again! No doubt that JFK would find their act to be beyond belief and Bill Clinton should be in charge of the investigation to make sure we have a person beyond reproach in such matters.

Our economy is in a mess and on the brink of falling into another deep recession. Time to slap a few hands, increase over-sight on such trips, and move on. I don't think the investigations and the destruction of several highly trained Secret Service agents is really doing us a great deal of good.

The Senate should investigate themselves. I am sure that there is a lot more going on with them than the Secret Service.

I have an Idea, If the TSA is so good at their jobs let them guard officials as they travel, after all they are the TSA, the name fits. Laughing that I even thought of this. I need more coffee.
