JET Magazine 'Beauty Of The Week' Competition Picks Six Finalists (PHOTOS)

Jet Beauty Of The Week

Atlanta was ground zero this weekend for JET magazine's first-ever open casting call for its coveted "Beauty Of The Week" (B.O.W.) feature.

JET editor-in-chief Mitzi Miller co-hosted the event with "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Cynthia Bailey in hopes of finding women that "embody the look and spirit of the 'Beauty Of The Week.'"

Approximately 40 bikini-clad beauties lined up outside The Bailey Agency School of Fashion for a chance to make their JET "Beauty of The Week" dreams come true.

Miller and Bailey shared their judging duties with Q Parker, formally of the R&B group 112, and Kenya Moore -- a former JET "B.O.W" and Miss USA, who is rumored to be joining Bailey as the newest cast member on the "Real Housewives Of Atlanta."

ā€œIt was an exciting afternoon. Working with Cynthia, Kenya and Q Parker was way more fun than actual labor. I look forward to ushering in the new generation of JET Beauties," Miller told The Huffington Post.

There's no word yet on which ladies will actually grace the B.O.W page, but check out the six finalists chosen below.

Check out the bevy of beauties and photos from the event in the slideshow below. Who do you think deserves the honor of "Beauty of The Week?"

After this Many years, Jet could find Something More Culturally Creative Than Having Our Black Treasure (Woman) take their clothes Off, like Ms Ann, Its so European! Lets Quit Following White Folks ideas. Let Appreciate, teach and value something beyond our sisters removing their Clothes for Cash and Celebrity! Out with the Old Jet!

Well said! I am sick of the video-girl concept of beauty that magazines like JET perpetuate. Especially since it requires a great deal of conformity from Black women.

This is just a marketing tool, and a false representation of Black pride.

I like the idea of promoting Black is Beautiful; young Black women are not told that enough. But I do have a problem with this exploitative display (were there no change rooms? Why are they lined up naked outside like cattle?) that focuses on a narrow idea of beauty.

This is a 1970s solution, to a 2012 on-going issue...

I totally agree. Even when was thinner I always wore classy clothing and kept everything to a mans imagination. I never felt the need to expose myself. We should really not follow others. What are we teaching our children....I mean have we been deduced to this. They do look good, but really we have so much work to do ....how about educating our children about our Great Afrikan History whom is responsible for those big pyramids, or our about the true founding fathers of maths and sciences whom wasnt the Greeks at all. How about that. Lets not give in to this SUPERFICIAL society.

I have been in most states in America and have traveled to Asia, South America and Europe. If the color of a woman bothers you, then you are ignorant because beautiful women come in all color and being sweet and smart has no limitation either.

The only people who are limited are the bigots.

WHUT??? Jet Magazine has been doing Beauty of the Week for 60 years!!! I remember when I was 4 years old and my dad took me to my uncle's barber shop and I'd always go through the past few weeks JET magazines to see them!!! no disrespect meant for King.. sort of like MAXIM for men who want a little more SUBSTANCE with their snark.. but this is JET we're talking about here. I mean... on an episode of MAD MEN .. Pete suggested they buy advertising in JET.. that's how far back we're talking!
