SpaceX ISS Mission Launch Now Set For May 19

After a series of delays, the long-awaited SpaceX-ISS mission is now scheduled for May 19.

If all goes according to plan, the first privately funded spaceflight to the ISS will commence at 4:45 a.m. EDT, when SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The launch "window" lasts only one second, according to NASA. If there's any delay, the next launch opportunity would be May 22.

Before its rendezvous with the ISS, SpaceX's Dragon capsuie will conduct a series of tests--to make sure the docking will be safe.

What's the capsule carrying? All sorts of things, including experiments as well as food, scientific equipment, and "mundane items" like underwear and socks for the astronauts, a NASA spokesman told The Huffington Post.
